Ok if you wish to play single mode you can download the Dayz server files in the steam tools section, once installed then you need to right click on the dayz server files and add this:
" -config=serverDZ.cfg " to the launch settings, after that click play and the Dayz server should load up once loaded, then goto your games library and start the dayzsa game.

after that click on change server and goto LAN section you should see "Example name" thats your server click on that and connect you should now load into the dayz game on your own server "which is equivelent to single play" it will save your last place you were when you restart the game. all been well, only issue you may have is if you dont have a good enough pc to run the server aswell as play the game.

Personally theres no harm in trying i can do it with an intermediate spec pc.

good luck have fun.

You can also host your own server now with the files released.

Seen a few good youtube tutorials too, you can ofc lock the server if you want to test stuff or whatever.

Is that a statement or a question?

I would like to play DayZ in singleplayer mode. I don't have the time for multiplayer games and I hate to be shot by random players with tons of gear while I'm still running around in a shirt and begin starving ;-)

So, is there a simple way to start the game in singleplayer mode?

I have read somewhere that I only need to right click on the DayZ-line in steam and select offline...it's not there.

Thanks
Thorsten

Hmm, the option to play offline appears for me when I click the play button from the(Steam) library menu. I get 3 options: Play DayZ, Play DayZ (with logs) and Play DayZ Offline.

Are you running experimental or are you still on .62?

The .62 build doesn't have the offline option.

I just re-installed DayZ yesterday (after months not playing) and I assume it's .62. Will have a look later....thanks :)
Do I have to select the experimental? I guess in the 'Beta' section?

I have to apologize....I wasn't aware that 'ofline testing mode' is the same as singleplayer mode [insert facepalm here, please] I thought that offline mode has almost no content and is for exploring the map only.

Followed the instructions in the post and got the choice to play offline now :-)

Do I have to deactivate the automatic updates to keep this option?

Unfortunateley....I have to go to bed now, the Zombies have to wait ;-P

ThankZ a lot guyZ!

Yeah, in your steam games library, left click on DayZ and select properties. In the top tabs in the creen that opens will be one that says "beta" I believe. Under that tab is the options to run Experimental or stress test.

It asks for a code, none is required. Once you do that it will have to download the correct files so it may take a few minutes.

Edit: Just seen your last post.

No, leave the auto updates on. There are no updates to the .62 build and there will be no more since it will be phased out, all updates currently are for .63.

probably not worth it atm as there is no Ai bandits, so might aswell join a pve server if you like playing without ai

the "offline mode" is a joke, there is a ton of people who wants real offline SP,forcing people on line is a disgusting data collection thing and nothing else.

If your computer can handle it, you could start your own server. I started my own and play on it. It allows for persistance which is a positive point. Wasn't impressed by the amount of zombies, but I can learn how to change that now.

Anyway, playing on your own server is about as close as we have to true offline play...but not really offline now is it?

What they actually have for "offline" wouldn't be horrible if they kept it up to date and allowed persistance. The way I understand it though, it is simply for testing purposes. It reminds me more of a demo version of the game as it is.
