How to reload your gun?
I already know about reloading where you open the inventory and drag a magazine onto your gun. I mean reloading without opening your inventory.
I know it has something to do with putting a magazine in your hotbar then selecting it but I got no idea what to do. If it helps, I'm playing offline on the stress test version.

I tried that but instead of reloading, it just swaps to the ammo and makes me hold it in my hand

in 0.63 you must hold the button number for the ammo thats on your hot bar to reload.

do this but hold 2 instead of pressing 2:

So, we'll essentially be filling the hotbar with mags and bullets instead of being able to use it for switching between different weapons and equipment? I saw a vid of someone demonstrating this, he was using four hotbar slots just to manage his pistol and its ammo. A bit extreme, I must say this is a design choice I do not agree with.

well its not like you will be carrying 20 different guns that require 20 different types of ammo...... you will have as usual 1 primary, a secondary in your bag and maby a pistol aswell... So that shoval or Axe on your back will indeed have a spot on that hotbar easily.

well its not like you will be carrying 20 m4s.... you will have as usual 1 primary, a secondary in your bag and maby a pistol aswell... So that shoval or Axe on your back will indeed have a spot on that hotbar easily.
Yeah maybe, it just comes across as unnecessarily complex and not very intuitive. Will have to try it myself I guess.

Well at some point im guessing they will have things worked out better because atm... imo i am not a fan of some of the new mechanics. But i assume they will come out with a tutorial thingy to show what everything does if they make it any more complicated lol.

Things should not need to be complicated. It should be simple. It can be indepth yes but make it simple for the user. atleast thats my opinion on how things should be.

Firt reload you have to hold mag in your hand and pull ammo to the left window, then you will see the load ammo text

If you have a weapon that takes a magazine, or has an internal one, hold "R" to reload it

it's less complex than before:
the hotbar is only needed for quickly swapping mags (by holding the associated key) and all (internal) mags can be reloaded by holding the R key (though I still prefer reloading external mags via inventory).
no need to put any loose ammo on the hotbar...

Yeah, how hard was that? Why has everyone else completely ignored the ACTUAL question...
And WTF do people clutter the toolbar with ammo? Never understood that.

the R key was sometimes bugged until 1.09 and it was safer to reload via hotbar.
but this doesn't work anymore, since 1.09 it's reloading only one bullet at a time if you use the hotbar.
on the other hand it seems they 'fixed' the R key by this change :steammocking:

"Fixed" seems to mean everything but "working" these days. Probably the second
most abused word in the world... just behind "organic"...

Yeah, I wrote that more than two years ago. Sneaky necromancer resurrected a dead thread that should have stayed dead... :steamhappy:

Although, for the record, with the reload desync happening occasionally when using "R" to reload I must admit I still use the hotbar when I have room on it, since when using R you can never be entirely sure of the result..
