Can't start DayZ with DayZ SA Launcher, says that DayZ is already running, then the EXE can't be killed gives an Error

Any tips, for a mate, I don't have the issue. He sent me screenshots.

Get Teamviewer and try to look at the problem in case your mate is a DAU. I have to do this too with another guy from time to time.

He's and engineer and built his own PC, huge nerd, he can't fix it. He's having to do things manually.

DAU means dumbest assumable user. Basically someone who is all thumbs but not meant as an insult.
If he is a nerd it's going to be difficult helping him. I had cases where the game didn't start but i could kill the exe and restart the game.

I'm facing the same issue. I have installed NET framework, reinstalled both the game and launcher, as well as tried both of them in a fresh virtualbox. Task manager shows no instance of DayZ running and after Downloading Server List fails I am met with the same message repeatedly; "There was a problem downloading the server list: A task was cancelled".

What he has done as a work around is right clicking DayZ in steam, and then choosing option Run DayZ SA Launcher, then installing all the mods needed manually.

i know it sounds silly but make sure he isnt running dayz first before the dzlauncher etc
ie the launcher will boot the game on its own instead of 2 dayz running

Go to your steam Dayz folder and delete "DayZ_x64" and restart your pc.

Then replace the folder and start Dayz.
