What to do at night time?
I have usually been server hopping every time it turns to night. I don't like doing this but when I really can't see anything not even a meter in front of me I don't want to sit in the dark for 20 minutes waiting for daylight. I do not always have a torch or glowstick on me.

OK, there is no right answer because there is to many options server side. I play on a PVE/RP type server. And because of the no pvp base building is a major part of the game (for PVE) We have a very short night, I think about an hour every 6 or 7 hours. It is not much.. Anyways, I use the time to sort my tents, or build my base. Our kits start with NVGs and I know that is not always the case. But my base has lights every where so I do not need them real. The server I play on is heavily modded so base building can be fun.

Now on PVP it is a different ballgame altogether. It is a hell of a lot harder to establish a good base and if you do, u sure as hell do not want to advertise your base with a bunch of lights. U just asking for trouble. And of course glow sticks, flares or any other light is a huge target on your back.

You did not mention, but I have to assume you play on PVP servers. (you would most likely not be here asking if your home server is PVE. So this is the advice I offer. a compromise to your night dilemma. Find a home RP or PVE server. Someplace you can go relax do some hunting build a nice base, and when your PVP server goes dark, go play on your new server. Own a crappy car that u do not need to worry about it being stolen.

It may not be your thing, but PVE servers can be fun if you find a good server. That is the only help I can offer as night is a fickle biotch.

Or you could prepare for night by finding light sources or crafting torches before night. Is running at night with a light a risk? Sure you bet but you might find loot easier to find as most players quit and server hop. You might find playing at night interesting. Chances are you wont encounter anybody unless you are on a higher pop server but even then you might meet other players that are not all about kos.

Night time is best, to many casuals don't play at night.

There pants end up full of skid marks because they can't see.

You know what to do at night?
the same as what you do in the day.

And you can craft a fire to see and craft a torch out of trees so there really is no excuse other than night time scares people.

Don't be a female reproductive organ and play through it. I had the best session during those 1.5hr night cycles a few days ago...we ran around in the dark and even had a shot or two fired in our direction. Was a hell of a rush.

traveling alone at night is creepy; it gets my adrenline pumping. any little squeak has me on my toes. its better to travel with someone; cant go wrong with the buddy system, unless your buddy secretly wants to gas you and steal your loot...i had a traumatic experience.

I just love creeping around large towns at night. Mostly at the coast because its easier to find other survivors. I take my shoes off and travel with minimal gear so that I move almost silently. Moving mostly at walking pace, I don't even need a light source and I can see and hear other survivors for quite some distance. Sneak up on them and talk to them. Its great to watch them panic. Most spend so much time looting or fighting Z's I can actually catch up with them in walk. I die often doing this (especially when talking to others) but its fun non-the-less.

What I want is a collection of short creepy sounds that I can play down the mic as I creep around on people. Something good and scary.

Used to be a dude on youtube who would put down a walkie talkie in police stations and play creepy stuff. Found it pretty original :)

Prioritize a light source as part of your normal kit (you can craft a torch easily). Another option, sack up and enjoy the atmosphere as you creep through a town with zombie noises all around.

oO Never thought of using the walkie talkies. New mission parameters established.

Running around on an official server atm with over 1h of darkness......quite fun and you never know if you see anyone with a lamp or chem stick. Even heard some distant shootout from NWAF that was still some distance away.

of course not. i have never heard of night vision, in this game that has night vision since it was created and many years before, one of the central important features. never heard of it.

of course i have, i said in op if you bothered to read that i rarely have chemlights or other light source. so why do you think i would have asked if i had night vision? let alone batteries? next you will ask if i know this game has guns in it.
