Vanilla Storage Options
Are oil drums and tents the ONLY way to make a stash?

I'm having an extremely hard time finding a tent on my vanilla server (presumably they no longer spawn in tower blocks), and oil drums are a pain to get in place.

Get a saw, an axe and some nails. Build crates. You can get 7 crates out of a pack of nails and 5 logs ( = 14 planks + 1 left over ).

Cooking pot + shovel = permanent stash? So you need to bury these things fro them to become persistent?

This works on vanilla server, right? How much storage does a crate give you, compared to a barrel?

Thanks for responses.

u can just drop protective cases on the ground (or ofc bury them) - they wont despawn for 40+ days. not sure about unburied cooking pots.
the wooden crates are quite small compared to barrels, but easy to craft as mentoned above.

Could someone please provide a comprehensive list of all the objects that can be used to bury a stash, and all other persistent storage. I will then mark it as the answer (both for my benefit and others that might find this thread) because information on this subject is quite hard to find. Please also include any tools that might be required, like a shovel for example.

Thanks in advance!

there is no point because there is so much modded content and people will come here whining "why this x modded item is not here". But for vanilla

Non burriable persistent items: Cars, Tents, oil barrels

Burriable persistent items: Sea chests, Protector cases, Cooking pots, drybags, drypouches, Wooden crates

In addition, the sea chest can be attached to a fully built tower. It is also persistent without burrying

My wooden Crates are NOT buried, and they are still lying in my Base (2 Weeks now).

normal vanilla "offical" server without any mods. I interact very freqently with my crates. no disappearing since 2 weeks.

Longest time so far was 2-3 days... Haven`t tried longer, because I play very often on this server (and only on that, because I established a nice little base there (without barrels, could`t find any, and only 2 medium tents, haven`t got any luck to find more)
