Do I need to download dayz experimental?

It is still a very valid question since Steam by default will start by downloading this first. It is not an option or anything you get to decide before it is done. Normaly when i download/install from Steam I just go do something else. Luckily this time i noticed 2 Dayz in downloader where the experiemental was 4GB inn. I then had to look if this was optional or not and found this on first search. It is rather obvious what experimental if ment for, what is not obvious is how these morons make that a default download!

Experimental is not a default download, you have chosen to install Experimental at some point, so Steam tries to update it when there is an update published. As Steam always does. Normally you would never have a case of both stable and Exp having updates at the same time, so I can’t imagine this being an issue except in odd circumstances.

the experimental auto-downloaded. annoyed since i have limited bandwidth. now waiting on the real game ... and then mods.. been an hour. ugh
