DayZ slowly turning into Fortnite
I love this game. But the PvP mentality is slowly killing it. I'm starting to get the impression that new players think that killing other players is what this game is about. But it's a survival game...PvP is just one way to play it. The servers are getting increasingly flooded with Fortnite babies.

Compared to when I started to play back in 0.62, I'm getting shot and killed so often now that it's getting ridiculous.
Here's the thing: I don't want to fight. I avoid other players and even when I get the opportunity to shoot an unaware player at point blanc I won't do it.

But it seems that new players think it's mandatory to shoot other players. So often I try to run away, showing clearly that I don't want to fight. I hate gunfights. But players just shoot you in the back or hunt you down. What's the accomplishment in that? Can't you take a hint? For me getting killed and losing gear means losing two weeks of playtime, because I only get to play an hour a day.

If you want to fight, fine, go play Fortnite with the other babies and yell 'pew pew pew' while you're at it. If someone in Dayz takes a shot at you, shoot back if you want. But when people clearly indicate that they don't want to fight, then just leave them alone. There should be some standard, some code of conduct, some basic level of understanding.

Because of the PvP Fornite babies this game is rapidly becoming one dimensional. And it will ruin this game. At first I thought: 'oh well, it's part of the game'. (And a lot of people on this forum will scream 'get over it!') But more and more I'm beginning to see that this Kill on Sight mentality is forcing out customers who are interested in more diverse game mechanics. That WILL result in the end of this unique survival game as we know it.

Think before you pull the trigger. You're not only killing a player, but also slowly murdering this game.

It's true!! With the amount of kids crying in the forums, dayz is slowly turning into fortnite.

This happened in the original Mod ... we Ran Dayz Brahz RolePlay No Kos and Dayz Brahz Death Match .... modded maps and weapons on ARMA 2 .... Guess which one was always full .... then guess the one which players ALWAYS returned!!! the problem with Dayz is it is a Sandbox and it needs ... and I do mean NEEDS server admins to control it as they see the game as they want it!!!!

So to the OP .... yes the game is filling with folks looking for a "quick fix" kill, but real Dayz servers with a code of conduct will be where most authentic players will go, others will go to a BR mod or a DM mod .... such is life!

Be patient and wait for the game to be completed before people put time into make mods/rules/conduct.... it will happen!

We used to Instant Ban the AS50 as hacked in as we removed it from loot Tables!!! hahaha!

Great times and had the pleasure of meeting some great folks! Problem to this day is Dayz MOD was built on ARMA 2 + Arrowhead, a complete game we had years to learn how to mod ... Dayz is a new and even now evolving!! once complete see some amazing type servers ... to suit all ... from BR to DM to real Survival! we ran a Dayz + server for a while and a Breaking Point one! some great ambient effects and harder survival!

Meh, over the last 4 days I met 8 people, 2 tried shooting at me, the others I either helped or we chatted and said good luck. All depends really, the server I am on is almost always 100% full, lots of chances for crazyness, but I have still met many friendlies.

I've yet to kill another player. Yet those that do hunt and kill make this a survival game for players like myself. They add in an element of fear that the environment just can not generate. I remember fondly spawning a new char and on the first road I found a cut up human body. I was creeping around that town with such care and attention, wondering who was around. A good experience.

They make the human element post apocalyptic. Uncivilised. Not social. Permanent death and losing all my gear is what attracts me to the game.

Guys... new players, old players, me, you....

It doesn't matter.
koffiepot Jul 4, 2019 @ 1:49pm
eventually ;)

Just look at it this way; even with a complete content game you're gonna have kos people.

Imo this 'could be' people that don't understand the depts of the game, and chances are they never will. But they'll know all about the coastline.

I am surviving many times every time I play ..but I survive more when I play cod4, but without the grind... in my opinion dayz is nothing but a fps- game and I don't quite understand why people call it "surviving". a frag used to be a frag. with games like this it is now called "survive" when ever they frag another player.
