DayZ
Is DayZ actually good? (Some other questions too...)
For the first time (That I have seen), DayZ actually has positive reviews at 79% **RECENT**. Is the game worth picking up on sale now? I have been eyeing this game for over 2 years now, but my PC couldn't run it awhile ago and people were saying bad things about the game. I am 2000 points away from getting 6 dollars credit so i thought that I might spend it towards DayZ. I know there might be a lot of bias in the DayZ forum, but I trust that you can give me an honest opinion.

I am new to this game and the closest thing I played at all would probably be Miscreated. How hard is it learning how to do stuff in the game?

I head there was base building now. Is it difficult to start a base? Is it still in the game?

Those were my final questions and I hope you could understand them. Sorry if i was being confusing at all. If you can help me out and give me some tips and tricks along with an opinion on what to do, that would be great and I thank you. :steamhappy:

Sounds like a good plan.

Get the game dude, I'm loving every minute of it. Base building is good if you're prepared to invest some time and effort into it. Be advised: Learning curve is steep!

i would say yes. I used to play the mod a lot when it came out and it feels similar to that now. Of course they still need to add helis / planes / additional medical gameplay but overall its very fun.

It's in the best state it has ever been, and will only get better from here. Definitely buy it now, if you are interested. Be prepared, it has some unconventional controls so you will likely have to look things up or ask for help as there is no tutorial or hints in game.

The original Day Z (not the mod) was so buggy is could've been called Oogie Boogie. Doors that never opened, fence jumping put you in a coma, you could be fired into the sky cos reasons.

To put it simply, while people still complains (bugs are still present), it literally can only improve as the first release was rock bottom. :p So if you're willing to put in the effort and don't mind a hard time, it can be fun. If you want it, knock yourself out. Worst case, you get a refund.

I'd say give it a year and then come back and see if the rest of the basic mechanics have been re-implemented, mechanics like vaulting, bone system etc.

It gets a lot more attention from the Devs (or so it seems, judging by the updates) since it's on all major platforms now. I still think it is overpriced for the current content and compared to, umh SCUM, but if you can get it on sale it'll be a worthwhile experience now. The good thing is that slowly but surely all Beta-features are making a comeback and the missing functionality is getting added aswell (hopefully).

I also heard whispers that Namalsk (map) is coming soon - it was announced for 2019 last year. This will add a totally different challenge for survival (cold, bad weather = more survival oriented) and personally I am a little bit hyped about my favorite map getting a rework.

If you want to save $ now, you mine as well get DayZ for $30 as you'll never see it at this price again until summer sale next year, if it's not even higher. As for good or not? It's worth noting that many games do it better, in my opinion. Check out Rust. The community is about as cancer as you can get, but if you have friends it's always a hilarious time win or lose. Also, it's $7. I'd consider Rust a much better survival game compared to DayZ, especially player vs player wise.

Bought Rust... I disliked it. I don't have friends to play with. I thought DayZ would be really fun playing solo because you could be more stealthy and kill randoms from a distance.
