Remove fire barrels!
Why are they even a thing? Nobody uses them to cook and the only point they have is to grief players when robbing a base. Totally pointless.

1) when you find a barrel you use it for storage, unless you don't know how to use a long stick; using a fireplace in any house is easier.

2) can't use the barrel for storage, because it can be turned into firebarrel and despawns, making it useless for anyone who isn't online every day.

3) Why can't we destroy tents, which happen to get bugged and their "packing" symbol is under the ground, but can destroy barrels with basically any pointy thing. Why are firebarrels ingame anyway, what is their purpose, when there are: fireplaces, open fires, gas cookers and more than enough ways to stay warm.

Also remember some people will want to live the hunter's lifestyle in the future and carry a barrel to their camp for god knows how long, only to have some brainless player puncture their tanning barrel in 5 seconds. It's just a tool for annoying others, which nobody needs more of in Dayz.

I don't understand why players would lay waste to a humble camp, clearly operated by one person, put all their belongings (90% building tools) on the ground and puncture their only barrel. I'd understand it if there was a base nearby and they don't want competition, but this was inside a city and clearly for testing building stuff. At least steal the barrel, don't destroy it for no reason whatsoever.

The good thing is we can build wooden crates now, but I just don't get the mentality of these type of players. And since the late mod days this seems to be a growing amount.

OK now I understand your anger. I stumble upon other players stashes every now and then, and I only take what I can really use or need at that moment, (currently it's boots, I take boots!) mess their packing system around a bit and then leave it be. This Cancer in the game that people need to take EVERYTHING and destroy what they cannot take, will unfortunately not go away. This is one of the reasons I am a strong supporter of a high price tag to the game, might keep some of these kids away.

Thanks Hyperion. I was trying to build a public base for trade and as a meeting point for everyone. I know this is a high hope, but I've seen it happen and some incredible gameplay evolved around these spots in the past (I did it with lots of tents then and a lot of people appreciated the meeting place in Elektro). It takes lots of effort and serves no purpose, except trying out the new building mechanics and gathering lights and barrels to make the place attractive.

one of the old camps, all strangers:

I don't even mind people taking stuff from the base (that's kind of its purpose), and I will just restock what's being taken. But I don't understand why they need to deliberately destroy everything, even tearing down walls to steal the nails. I guess this kind of playstyle only works on a RP-server, but I also know there are lots of neutral players who wouldn't shoot, unless provoked. And Bambis who are glad to have a place on the coast to grow food and stock up, before the trip north.

And at the moment there is no ground or reason for these players to meet and connect. I was trying to supply that space and the ultimate goal was to trade in enough resources to wall off an entire part of town and make it a cool-looking atmospheric (meeting) place. Maybe even building that up with other volunteer survivors. Barrels were very useful for me, since I needed my nails for building.

And I get that it's difficult to do without joining a dedicated RP-server. But with common sense most people would appreciate to have these type of places around the coast, eventually. I'm not giving up yet ;)
