Headtorch being the best option currently, however unless you happen to find one with the red light, anyone can see you from a mile away, Glowsticks is the best way to keep yourself concealed while having a source of light, you can ATTACH glowsticks to your backpack.
Beyond that you'll be left with handheld devices for light though like torches, roadflares, flashlights, alternatively in case you happen to play on any of the official server hives (normal/hardcore) then you could just disconnect and join a server with day time.
This makes me wonder why someone as inexperienced as you would choose the most difficult scenario to start playing in, and as a result gets so frustrated that flaming at the game seems the only option. If you want to play at night with barely anything on you, well then you must suffer. Maybe first learn how things work and where to find what, then go for the more difficult challenges. If you have the right equipment, night time is quite playable as it is, it's also survivable for a new spawn, but's its very tough.
^ see above.
OP just wants a nvg and is
Many people work at night. F.e. criminals, hunters or fishermen who can only catch their prey during night time. Some fishermen go out by boat ( not a ship a simple 5m boat ) and some move along the shore between the tides.
Nobody forces you to play during night time. It's part of the experience.
What's ridiculous is that players complain about night being too dangerous but would happily run into a fight anytime....
I work 3rd shift. So I work at night. If you don't like the night time play on perma day servers. Literally nobody is forcing you to play at night
Obviously, you're just calibrating your monitor, right?
If they increased the brightness by even 5%, a lot less players would resent the darkness.
You guys are too used to hollywood nights where you can still see things because otherwise it would be stupid to show a dark screen to the audience. Nighttime is dark without street lamps. DayZ doesn't compromise like other games. Too bad players abused gamma so much othjerwise we would have better night time illumination.
Almost like people have different tastes...
A server gamma boost option for night time on that light might be worth suggesting though.
Not just on/off.
Though official forum would be best place for that.
