DayZ
Should I buy DayZ?
I've been interested in playing DayZ for a long time now and it seems like a really cool game. But when I read the reviews for DayZ it's very 50/50 where half the people enjoy the game and the other half dislikes the game, and from the negative comments saying how the game is buggy, unfinished and isn't worth it's price. I don't want to throw away $60 on a game that won't be enjoyable.

So my question is: Is DayZ worth the price or I shouldn't buy it?

i have played it again after so many years of uninstalling it. vehicles despawn, after spending an hour or so finding the parts for it. players who after these many years still kill on sight. clunky controls, imagine jogging and sprinting the whole entirety of the map, etc.save your money bro and get arma 3 instead. arma 3 dayz mod is even better than this crap.

The game has it's problems, but it's good, if blowing a few bucks on a video game sets you back, you should not be buying video games.

My kneejerk response to this kind of post is "if you need to ask, don't bother", but here goes the longer version:

If you ask on the forums you'll just get the opinions from a heap of people who have already made up their minds, so it won't help you anymore than reading Steam reviews, and those are beyond worthless.

It all depends on what you want from a game. If you want a clean, polished, user friendly AAA title with quick action you'll probably hate DayZ. If you want a slower game more focused on survival you might end up hating it anyway since so many players play it solely as a PvP shooter, making the game very unforgiving to newcomers.

That didn't stop me from getting hooked though, there's something special about scavenging the world for hours, slowly building better gear for survival without meeting a soul, then you bump into another survivor and what happens is 100% up to you and the other player. Sometimes (often) violence, sometimes trading, sometimes just a chat, sometimes grouping up to find adventures together. Easier to survive together...

In the end my advice would be to ignore all reviews. Instead watch some different streamers and youtubers playing the game in different ways and then give it a go if you are still curious.

send it dawg, games tight. Best played with some pals but I don't really know if there's a game that compares in some aspects. DayZ gets adrenaline rushing like no other. If you do end up getting it, learning curve is tough but rewarding. Worth a shot! There's always refund :)

Well the game is still far from complete, if you can handle the game still beeing in a ea phase even though its officially released, a lot of bugs and a lot of missing content. That adrenaline rush some say they get fades away after a couple of hours so its really up to you, just don't say you where not warned...

If you can get a friend to buy I guarantee it will be much more fun and enjoyable.
Playing alone isn't that much fun.

I got the game not too long ago and I played mostly solo. I think it's a really niche game for a very niche market which is why it's getting polarize review. I personally enjoy the slow burn, getting lost in a virtual world, potentially building my own mini base in future, hopefully meeting a friend along the way. And then losing everything and restart the whole process again, probably in a different part of the map; rinse and repeat. If this is what you like, then go for it ;). Oh, I only started in SA. But I have also play a lot of other survival games e.g. s??m.

This. It's relatively inexpensive and if you don't like it you can refund it as long as you don't go over 2 hours or 2 weeks.

The game is unique but unfinished, the so called release just a cashgrab before they focused on the console releases. I wouldnt buy it at full price, its defnitely not worth it and will be on sale soon enough. Just put it on your wishlist and get 50% off, you will get a less buggy version - this game is years away from being finished, if ever.

If its enjoyable for you isnt something youll get answered anywhere.

The game isn't complete so far, has bugs, it lacks on content (in vanilla), it is expensive, but I LOVE IT. I have not regret in buying this game.

You? Sorry, I can't decide for you... It's your money.

Important to take into account that most negative reviews relate to the actual development process rather than the game itself.

They contain a lot of misinformation and even disinformation in some cases, things like this for example....

Because of this they are of little, if any, help when trying to judge whether this is a game you'll like.

The game is still a work in progress. If you don't like the sound of that, probably best to wait.

Your best bet is either watch streams or youtube, of just go for it and try to come to a decision within 2 hours of game play.
