Playing DayZ with 2 steam accounts on the same computer?

My wife and i want to play on our computer but the character of her for example is showing up when i am logged in.

The creating new user works but is it possible to play on one user account?

Each one of you needs their own steam account to have a character for yourself = 2 accounts and 2 games since you can only have one character on official servers.

we both have DayZ on our steam accounts, problem is her character is still showing up even if i'm currently logged in

some say it is just the last character who logged in, i'm not sure though and i don't want to lose her progress

I don't think so. They just have access to the same steam account and from what i heard you can't use it if the one you share it with is also using it at the same time.

are you logging into windows as the same user? sounds like it, you need to have a different windows user account as well as steam account as the local char (used to preview when dayz is opened) is stored under your personal documents folder. (Dayz folder under documents)

Yes, that is how we play now, i hope bohemia will do something in the future about this.

You can have multiple Steam accounts on the same PC with the same Windows user. Every time you change accounts on Steam the last played Char shows up, but then you just click on Change Server and your own Char from your personal account will log in to the server last played on. No need to have multiple Windows accounts, works like a charm.

User accounts are saved per steam64ID. It is IMPOSSIBLE for 2 different steam accounts to log into the same character. Remeber, the character wiever DOES NOT reflect actual characters, only ones that the DayZ profile you are using has previously played on

Yes, that is how we play now, i hope bohemia will do something in the future about this.

You can also specify another location for those files to be saved with the -profiles launch paramater. Do this for the second account.

(Right click DayZ on Steam > Properties > Set Launch Options

-profiles=C:\SomeFolderforSecondProfile

This way you aren't both using the default location in documents.

Hes talking about the character shows on the main menu when he launches the game. It shows the character from the other account even while he is logged into the 2nd account. Yea that happens, it doesn't affect who you log in as though.
