how to tell which servers are the same hive?
My mate won't be playing for a while so i thought to change server. Since i was on a community server (dayz nl multiplay) i assumed my char would be taken over if i selected another public server. But i started out with a fresh spawn. How can i tell which server i can pick and carry on with the same char?

It's not that i have anything special gearwise but i've grown a bit attached to this one, and i might switch back when my mate starts playing again.

1PP "Hardcore" - all first person only servers
3PP - all other servers

However: On September 2nd a number of official servers will move to the community tab in the browser, which will mean they are going to share a separate hive from other official servers. (No sharing with "real" community servers however)

More info about that here: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/245961-pc-server-reassignment-on-september-2nd/

I presume this happens due to some legal or technical matter between BI and Gameservers.

*) There are also two hives (1PP/3PP) for experimental servers, but since experimental was shifted to a separate game client the exp servers are no longer accessible in the server browser of the Stable client.

official servers = 1 character across all servers... like you say though if you swap - you respawn with ur gear elsewhere.

edit; you get another character if you play on official 1st person too I seem to remember.

Community - new character on every server unless they are sharing hives - Think a couple of the bigger servers do this, usually they warn you.

so is there any way to tell with which other servers these have a shared hive with?

for instance: https://www.battlemetrics.com/servers/dayz/2992135

are these only the other dayz nl multiplay servers? or is there same way i can filter shared hive servers from this one?

any community servers are servers run by the public and wont be on the same hive, unless a community as a few servers and the owner wants them linked, i know there a community called omnicidal, they have a few servers but im pretty sure none of thier serves are linked.

if you want to play server with same hive join an offical server thats not experimental

according to a list i found this is an official one:
DayZ NL 3664683 (Public) - Hosted by Multiplay.com Official server

I think i tried another official one yesterday (alltho that might have been a community one). and i had a fresh spawn
