They -are- talking about increasing the player count in the game to 100 man servers... but they also might increase the map size too...
Everything is fine as is.... in fact... the map needs to be bigger IMO...

Islands would be pretty amazing too.
Point is, it is definitely not too small. If they made it smaller than it is now, vehicles would be ridiculous, end of story.
if anything it should be bigger imo.
One centerlized location as a main focus means the entire server population will be camping said location, nah. Increasing server capacity to 80-100 should be an alright balance, remember we shouldn't be bumping into indivduals around every corner? A trait of survival in games like DayZ is not to be seen.
Personally i think they need some end-game oilrigs, islands off the east coastline with even some medical, military vessels run aground. (Have a purpose for the helicopters and even boats, if implemented?).
PvP isnt the main thrust of DAYZ rather just a part of it.
Think more "The Road" rather than "Mad Max"
