Full Leather - is it worth it?

Hello there,

it's me again.

I just killed a couple of deers and had the luck to find garden lime and a barrel to make tanned leather. I had a pristine leather sewing kit too and decided to make a FULL leather set, from hat to shoes. I noticed that the clothing has a LOT of slots but does it block any damage or is it very bad when something hits you?

I also painted the whole set brown instead of the natural white. I think it looks really cool combined with a spear and a cool gun, but damn.. was it worth the time? any experiences?

Leather is the third most water proof clothing item at the moment, so I would say it is very worth it given the danger of rain and cold in the current build.

The leather West is awesome and got plenty of space (12 Itemslots 4x3).
The leather Water bottles are also very awesome and usefull.

kind of a humorous fact: the leather hat has just as much shock absorbtion as the gorka helmet

I only see the vest and the hat being worth the time and effort

The leather jacket has an absorbency of 10% (only the rain coat and the Gorka are more resistant). The jacket and pants have nine slots each, making them the 'best' looting clothes currently available. The vest has 12 slots - only the Smersh is better and good luck finding that. The hat is equal to the ballistic helmet, and with those wolves about, an invaluable addition. The moccasins are a little 'meh'. The leather water pouch holds 500ml and takes 2 item slots - worth making if you haven't found any plastic bottles.

And...

It makes a statement. It says you're a DayZ master. :D

The leather jacket has 9 slots, compared to the second largest jacket which has only 8. Like said above the hat is worth it too and so is the vest, so might as well make the rest to match.
If you want to look awesome, do that, make an improvised bag and a bow/arrows. Proceed to ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ up.

Thanks a lot for all the friendly answers. I'm glad I made it and I actually like the look of the whole set a lot. The only thing that literally looks like.. Not that good, is the hat. But since it has the same stats as a ballistic helmet I might think of it in a different way. I didn't know that, thanks a lot.

I did it with bark already, I don't like to be that dark.

You should try dying the leather cloths.
nails make it go really dark / blends in with the red bushes
bark makes it go brownish / blends in with the trees / grass
white bark makes it go a light color / blends in with lighter color grasses

very good for camo

the leather back pack looks pretty cool as well.


The pig back pack is alot better thought. it can be a bigger version of the improvised backpack

You can't really see them in action, all you can see is you talking to a bambi. It doesn't show anything about the armor itself, you're not being shot at or standing in the rain for any useful information.

In terms and relation to this thread your video serves nothing. It doesn't show what the armor is capable of, it doesn't offer anyone useful information in this thread. And the title is "is it worth it". Watching you talk to a Freshspawn in armor doesn't provide anything that helps deciding if it is worth it or isn't.
