On EXP, cars weren't persistent, so we could just wreck them and wait for a respawn. When they pushed to Stable, they did not shorten or alleviate the gap in any way, so most servers just have many "undriveable" cars laying around.
You can push them to ruined by spending about 15 minutes hitting the engine block with a fireaxe or chainsaw (or shooting around 40 shotgun sheels into the engine). But, that will only make the vehicle respawn somewhere.
I understand they have an EXP build that attempts to fix this problem.
Usually I look at where it's placed now(e.g. if it is right in front of a concrete barrier it most likely hit that). If it looks like it could have had a crash, I don't even go looking for parts. I drove a truck and the game crashed after 20 minutes. It doesn't feel smooth yet. Best to wait for the vehicle fix/update.
Grabbing some gun, finding ammo and just walking about to find better to loot so you feel great.
Loot intensive games are fun if they are Torchlight and have an appropriate level system.
Dont you think that once modding and all that jazz will be a thing, servers with working/semi working cars will become a reality? Some like to figure out stuff(obviously harder to while in dev) and some just want it to work right of the bat.
Personally i love that it can take hours to get a car "fixxed" and that i am not able to find a working car on the coast(mod/s). Cause we all know where they will end up anyways(entrance to NWAF).
Sure I am not trying to say that there shouldn't be hard work involved in fixing a car or vehicle. It would just be great if people that are spending the time out of their day doing so aren't getting bad results. Transparency would be great from the Dev's so people have some understanding of what is currently possible for players to accomplish.
I feel the current UI is so lacking with what can be possible. I am all for it being pretty tough and hardcore. I just wish the status reports and updates had some information for what is possible for players with crafting
Maybe my wording was a bit wierd, wasent implying anything :) And 100% agree on that if you have been working hours on getting all the parts and lubricants the car should at least go vroom and start rolling. And tbh i would also like there to be a list of sorts in SR where we could see what had issues and what dident. The more info we have the smoother the experience will be(i think), ahh well we have to go with what we got and simply take it from there.
Once you get a "fresh " vehicle use that too find other "fresh" vehicles. Repairing a vehcle atm is not worth it :)
I couldn't agree more :) I hope we can get more info on what is happening. Parts being somewhat ruined or slightly degraded can create a reduced experience for me. What works or doesn't. These to me are essential :)
The plugs are invisible in the V3S. So they're always in the truck (bc, they spawn with one and can;t be removed bc they're invisible).
