I dont think you ever played Ark......I think its even more demanding then Dayz.
oh and what i have heard from one of the hosting companies is for DayZ they use the XEON e5 Chips with SSD Enterprise Raid ... thats a lot of outlay for a gaming server!!! So they need to recoup that cash!!
Wrong....License Fees make the price...and u have to pay it
Dont make me laugh!! Go do some research on actually hosting servers before saying stuff like this!! Really .... https://www.hetzner.de
the company we use for Dedicated boxes if you wanted to "run your own" the specs that Dayz is running on according to "fragnet" (not sure how old the info on the website is) your paying a lot more a month just for the server if you wanted to host it professionally yourself!
Did u know how many GameServer run on one Real server ? Im sure u dont know it!
And i dont pay more if u want to host by myself.

High Performing Hardware (E31271v3 CPU, 16Gb DDR3 ECC RAM and Intel S3500 SSDs)

This is a QUAD core CPU!! (rip the RAM down to meet specs) your going to be lucky to run 2 dayz servers from this at best as they are offsetting threads as we speak with the new engine as documented in one of the dev blogs.
as I mentioned earlier, they could well be running them on e5 Xeons with 16 or 18 cores and running them VM (as you may have read in my previous post just as we do with many other game servers) and the only info i could find was on fragnet but this states a server spec .... But no you dont listen and jump in with "its license costs" seriously ...
