DayZ

Server prices make me sad.
Dauq is wrong with the prices for dayz servers ...

40 euro for 30 slot server per month for a game that barely has any content.

I have an ARK Survival Evolved server 40 slots for 15 euro per month and that game is demanding with structures and dinos and events and so much while DayZ has nothing - barely few vehicles and some zeds and loot on the ground ... ?

Why are prices so high? I doubt there is such a huge demand for DayZ servers to justify for those prices.

On that stage me and my community will pass on this game. I hope in the future things will change ...

Required hardware ..... DayZ needs a lot more to run as so much is server side now and not client side, so the servers are under heavy load and need better hardware to run! wait till they release private hives or improve performance for servers.

It's not to bad actually, needs some RAM, but I've hosted dedicated servers while playing on my machine with no real issues.

Hosted an ARK server for friends, they dont need that much! Run on em on virtual machines they use next to no hardware in terms of 3 CPU Cores and 6GB Ram ... An ARMA 3 server needs 2-4 cores and 4-6GB RAM ... thats client based!! With Dayz being Server side ... the load would be a lot higher on the CPU Cores! Conan Exiles again needs 2 - 3 cores and around 6GB Ram.

oh and what i have heard from one of the hosting companies is for DayZ they use the XEON e5 Chips with SSD Enterprise Raid ... thats a lot of outlay for a gaming server!!! So they need to recoup that cash!!

Please show us the difference in license fees for at least the games mentioned here then.

Dont make me laugh!! Go do some research on actually hosting servers before saying stuff like this!! Really .... https://www.hetzner.de

the company we use for Dedicated boxes if you wanted to "run your own" the specs that Dayz is running on according to "fragnet" (not sure how old the info on the website is) your paying a lot more a month just for the server if you wanted to host it professionally yourself!

http://www.fragnet.net/games/dayz
High Performing Hardware (E31271v3 CPU, 16Gb DDR3 ECC RAM and Intel S3500 SSDs)

https://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_rootserver/px61ssd
This is a QUAD core CPU!! (rip the RAM down to meet specs) your going to be lucky to run 2 dayz servers from this at best as they are offsetting threads as we speak with the new engine as documented in one of the dev blogs.

as I mentioned earlier, they could well be running them on e5 Xeons with 16 or 18 cores and running them VM (as you may have read in my previous post just as we do with many other game servers) and the only info i could find was on fragnet but this states a server spec .... But no you dont listen and jump in with "its license costs" seriously ...
