After a while you will come to know the map like the back of your hand, as many DayZ veterans do.
I've played for so long I don't need maps or compasses to know where I'm going.
So far as I know its not allowed by BI to use this map in Arma3.
It was very easy to learn this map this way but now you have to play the running simulator!
There is also a tool out there which I don't want to mention here...
You do realise vehicles are in dayz?
Yes but you cant spawn them and also you need to find parts to repair them.
This is actually a very important thing. Read sign, find town on map, move on. I havent played in a few months up untill the other day and have yet to look at a map to see where i was going. Granted it took me about an hour to get where i wanted yesterday cause i got lost, but i still found it.
Run around, find your ways. Found this the other day:

Helped me to know the meaning of the names! Tisy=Yew , Chernogorsk=Black Mountain ,
