But fear etc can be overcome, the first time we played an FPS with zombies was probably scary for those reasons alone, but after playing 60 different zombie variant games that novelty of zombie fear wears off.
So I guess it depends on how desensitised you are and what you consider fear inducing. Some people for example find jump scares really scary and love the effect, I find them to be cheap and predictable for the most part.
