Placing a campfire while it rains?
When I put a fireplace in the rain it sais it won't ignite (which makes sense, obviously). The campfire cannot be placed close to a tree, and when I place it in a shed or house it sais it's "unsafe"... (IRL I'd be a lot more concerned with my own impending death than burning down some abandoned shed tbh... but whatever) So I'm kinda stuck here... Does this mean the game is just unplayable until I swap rainless servers until I find rainproof gear?

Does anyone know what are good places to ignite fires while it rains?

You can place them in houses with fireplaces. I assume you'd just place it in the fireplace somehow, I haven't had to do it myself though.

Oew, you can use the existing fireplaces? That makes so much sense that I never thought to try it out :p

I believe you have to place the fireplace you made into the fireplace in the house though

Ah I see! Thanks so much, it works for us. You just saved us from another death by hypothermia :D

Just to confirm, Grab 3 sticks and bark, make a fireplace or grab any suitable replacement, move into a house with a chimney/fireplace and place it IN the fireplace and you can light it.
Just keep in mind this produces a LOT of smoke from the chimney and can give away your position.

Also to light it use matches or get a stick and bark and make a hand drill kit. Also some trees do allow you to make one underneath it, but only certain picky tree designs.

Thanks Dingleschtat! Now we know a low-tech way to make fire as well using bark :-)

Note: Placing it in a house will help you warm up, true... but does nothing to prevent the incoming gun shot wound. lol I'd rather freeze than be shot in the back in someone elses house.

Under trees. Sometimes you have to place it a few times to find the right spot under a tree.
(Too close to the tree trunk / too far away because of rain)
