Do painkillers work?
Just killed a zombie outside of the hospital in Elektro, and on his body was a pack of painkillers. I'm assuming after maintainence, they enabled the spawning of these. Does this mean they work?

At the moment the wiki declares that Pain Killers are not operational. If they actually enable their functions they should work the same as Morphine or Splints in repairing sprains, fractures, and pain. I've never had pain killers on hand when in any of those conditions in game so I would not be able to verify if this is true.
It's probably wrong, people here are saying they can be used like Morphine. However I think if that's true they need to tone them down... Don't care how tough someone thinks they are, they aren't going for a jog with a fractured/broken leg no matter how many pills they pop.

PAIN KILLERS dont work you must use MORPHINE INJECTOR to fix any broken legs and bodily injuries like that.

I believe the whole confusion re. painkillers is due to the fact that they actually DID have an effect back in the mod

http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Mod:Painkillers

But in the standalone the object was put ingame but it was never really "finished" or worked on, since so much other stuff were given priority.

Thus: painkillers have no effect in the standalone (so far, 0.61).

The reason I'm so sure about this is bc I read a dev. interview about the subject over a year ago and haven't read any updates re. painkillers since then in any of the dev news, so I rekon this is still the case. Now, I've tried to dig out that old developer comment but alas haven't been able to find it yet so you will have to excuse me for not providing any links :/

I am aware that they are presented as a working med. in the wiki but I don't think the wiki actually have it right in this particular case
no it used to be that painkillers would help if your vision got all blury from dehydration, hunger or taking damage. but obviously that didn't really have a point since you could just turn the blury vision of in settings. so piankillers on update .57 they just stopped being of any use
