How long do dead bodies remain for?

Have they changed this at all?
First time playing in quite a while, I killed a guy and then went to deal with his friends and about 15-20 mins after he died I went to his body and it was gone.
I also saw someone be killed by zombies from afar and when I looked again around 10 mins later it was gone.
Are their friends just hiding the bodies or do they despawn now?

They despawn quite fast. I've been shot at, killed the shooter, waited out his mate. The friend did not hide the body, it despawned in five minutes or so even while I was looking directly at it. Saw it vanish. I don't think it's working correctly.

Pretty sure a bury option is going to be a thing but not sure. I'd say this is a placeholder for now. Hard to believe they wouldn't polish it a bit, bodies disappearing after such a short time is a bit weird.

long ago on patch 0.49+ zombie despawn 5 min and player 10 or 15 min but they change it idk why....
