Starbound Controller Support from the Xbox Version
So for those who don't know, the Xbox version of Starbound released today. And naturally, that has a control scheme made for controllers.

Any chance we'll see that come to PC? I think it would make playing Starbound on Steam Deck a LOT easier for people who don't fully understand how to use Steam Input.

I'm really hoping so idk why they can't just port the controller layout over.

They says they are working on it.
Yeah, sadly is happening. There is a lot of people getting worried and complaining about the actual workshop it gonna get really broke, because ChuckleFish decide to start moving on updates for starbound (Or atleast this update). Nothing is guarented at 100% but they already say they are taking a look on it.

In my case, if this happen, welp i have all mods copied in google drive, and getting ready to stay in a solid version of starbound.

Posting this link on a few Steam discussions about controller support to try and get Chucklefish to add it:

Please comment there and push for controller support to be added to the PC Game Pass and Steam versions!

Where's the confirmation about it?

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought they started working on controller support years ago before they stopped working on the game. Alas, it never materialised on PC.

They can implement controller support on PC. It's 2024, for crying out loud. Question is, can they be bothered? I'll say though, it would help this game tremendously to release such an update. It'd attract new players who have no idea of Starbound's divisive history.

I understand the concern about an update for controller support causing mod issues, particularly as many modders have moved on and now probably wouldn't update their work. But in truth, I'm not sure that such an update would really conflict with that many mods?

What core files would it change, and how would it change them in such a way that mods would cease to function? I'm by no means a computer expert, but from my limited knowledge it'd just be things to do with keybinds and input, right? Far as I know very few mods touch on those things, the majority of them focus on adding more content or adjusting gameplay mechanics instead. I'm not sure that we really need to worry all that much about lots of mods suddenly becoming unusable...

If this is what you're talking about https://www.reddit.com/r/starbound/comments/1gb44pi/controller_support_coming_to_pc/?rdt=45571 it says they'll look into controller support. It doesn't mean it will happen.
