I've tried playing the game with the beta patch just results in "game has stopped working" instantly.

I've got that as well. Might be a bug or someone from WB/Rocksteady has been careless.

However, there is a lot going on right now in the SteamDB:

Holy...wow. Just opted into the beta patch. EVERYTHING maxed, all gameworks settings on. 4GB used out of 6 (980ti). Constant 60fps. I think I might've dropped to 55 once when driving but it's butter smooth.

it runs exactly like it did before afaik, except now theres an option to switch to 60fps...you get 60 fps 99% of the time and then it drops in the batmobile or w/e
