If i buy a controller...
Which one is good for everything?

Never used one since i was a kid playing a playstation at commercial centers, so i don't know which one to buy ( if the keyboard and mouse is abismall in this game ) and since maybe ill buy one for the sake of it, there are ones good for flying ships or planes as well? Wanted a hotas for that, but a normal joystick will do i guess.
I've looked for xbox ones because the gamepass thing that let you play in streaming requires it and without doesn't work.
Im open for everything, not specifically xbox only, no cheap stuff nor expansive ones.

Turtle Beach Recon Controller seems good?

at the end of the day, all controllers are plastic pieces of trash that start showing drifting behavior assoon some dust particles get under the analogue sticks lol. but then again steam does let you calibrate controllers really well by increasing the deadzone overtime when needed
Hall sticks don't drift from dust. They are in fact making controllers with hall sticks now.

Dualshock 5 has better support now and is one of the best-feeling controllers I've used. I highly recommend it.

You can't go wrong with Flydigi Apex 4 controller Elite Force. With its mini LED display on the controller, you can easily switch between Xbox, PC, Switch, and Android. The best part is it never drifts no matter how long you use it. The Xbox controller drifts easily, I am on my 5th Xbox controller now due to drift.

Once you try this, the rest are just sub-par controller.

People have already said this, but xbox controllers are really good, and they feel comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions.

I personally use a PS4 controller, a gen 1 version to be specific. It really doesn't matter which one you get, just choose the one that has the best ergonomics for you.

Controllers utilizing hall effect joysticks aren't exactly widespread. Not a single official controller uses hall effect sticks and the second party market isn't exactly bursting with them either.

If you wanted a reasonably priced hall effect controller for pc gayman, the only option is a "Gamesir" controller made after 2023. But even hall effect controllers have issues—entirely to do with the manufacturer's poor design, whether that be the face buttons, dpad, general feel of the controller, or even the joysticks themselves not being calibrated properly—so it's not as simple as just buying a hall effect controller.

Actually, the Hall effect sensor already had been around since 1990. Sega Saturn/Dreamcast were using it. Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo chose to use the potential meter sensor cause they tried to scam us. LOL.
I am already on my 5th Xbox controller and 4th Joycon now in 4yrs of usage all due to the stupid drift.

The main reason for hall sensors not being widespread is relative cost per unit. Trying to go 'well hall effect controllers have issues too' is pretty silly when the original person I'm responding to is specifically talking about the problem with MODERN potentiometer-driven sticks and them drifting. It's also silly to try to downplay how rapidly they are becoming a thing in the third party market, where manufacturers are actually listening to users and making attempts to improve based on that.

Pretty much all of your mentions of supposed 'issues' on third-party controllers read as you fanboying for first party xbox controllers, in the process openly ignoring that they also have issues.

That is also NOT the only 'reasonably priced option'. Most the non-premium controllers with hall effect sticks and wireless capability sit at around 10 dollars over the microsoft stated retail price of the Xbox series X controller, but come with additional benefits beyond just the hall sticks. This is especially the case when you are aiming for controllers on PC, instead of ones that have to be usable on the consoles as well, where both microsoft and Sony actively strangle third-party market by refusing to allow wireless on controllers that aren't specifically licensed, and even force the issue on most of those.
Both of 8bitdo's options (bluetooth ultimate and Sn30pro2) are reasonably priced, as is the gulikit kingkong 2 and the Flydigi Direwolf 2. The Flydigi vader 3 pro is also not that much more expensive than a standard Xbox controller, and like every other mentioned option here, comes with other benefits that the standard Xbox controller does not, even beyond the presence of hall effect sticks. In fact, for a direct comparison of value, instead of comparing against a standard Xbox controller, these should all (with exception of gulikit) be being compared against the elite controller, what with them all having extra buttons over the standard xbox controller and most of them also having turbo/macro/control customization options. Which utterly shatters your price comparison in an instant.

All controllers have varying issues, thing is in most cases, at least for the third party ones, and especially for the hall effect ones, those 'problems' are in 'feel', and thus subjective, not mechanical. As opposed to the official first party controllers which have had, for the last 2 gens, MAJOR mechanical issues and general QC issues on top of the inherent ones from their cheaping out on materials quality.

The worst that can be said about third party controllers is that the cheaper end of them tend not to last as long as the higher priced ones. But the truth is that they still compete with longevity of modern standard first party controllers in most respects.

Long gone are the days of the N64, PS2, GC, and Original Xbox, where the first party controllers actually WERE superior. X360 and PS3 era was more of a mixed bag, then by PS4/Xbone era, the playing field was leveled in every factor but that Microsoft and Sony started actively locking out third party controllers from wireless connectivity. Imagine that, they started falling in quality, and suddenly third party wireless controllers weren't a thing.
The problem is people going for the cheapest thing on the shelf and then being surprised it's junk.

I don't know why this enduring myth of 'third-party = bad' is still around, but it hasn't been the truth for a while now. It started changing during the 360/ps3 era and never went back. It all comes down to feel, which is subjective and in many cases the 'it sux' crowd are people who didn't bother to give them a chance, just felt it was a bit different from what they were used to, then immediately threw it out.

Can use a keyboard and mouse I did in first and also used controller. But controller has better feel and easy controls I find it. But I also play it on console too

Buy a DualSense, this game has native support for it, without Steam Input.
Witski Mar 12, 2024 @ 12:21pm
Damn is so hard to use a controller ... played a tps and it was horrible and now im playing grand blue fantasy...a lot of keys to press and remember, maybe because it's too fast paced for a first controller time, now downloading dragon's dogma 1 and see how it goes, or try helldivers with my friend so we have a night of curses.

I didn't like playstations controller style so I went with Xbox controller.
Mu'Ammar of Carthus Mar 12, 2024 @ 12:40pm
Xbox wireless controller is easily the best choice.
Get yourself 8 rechargeable batteries and rotate them.

I would even recommend AGAINST playstation controllers, their stubborn and boneheaded left joystick placement puts a needless strain on your left thumb and gets uncomfortable really quick.

Can't see the comments at all, it say they are not verified.. mhh.
But sometimes, on wireless ( which xbox didn't gave a dongle and have to use my pc bluetooth ) disconnect itself for a few seconds i think, the xbox logo flickers.

Don't buy a controller until you try the game with mouse and keyboard. I played the first game and Dark Souls and Sekiro with mouse and keyboard and it's much better than when I played Dark Souls and Bloodborne on PS4. With m/kb you have full control of the camera while running and dodging and you can aim with the mouse much better. You also have many keys near your hand that are better for using items and abilities than the DPAD.
