Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2

Why "Trilogy" Fuga?
(Read with an open mind. I'm not enraged, I'm just... disappointed.)

I first heard a few months ago that fuga was going to be a trilogy, and despite there being no proof for such a claim, I was immediately disappointed. Why make a trilogy of this series? I personally found Solatorobo to be a way more interesting entry in the series. I loved the characters, setting, simplistic mechanics but insanely heavy story, etc etc. There was SO MUCH they could have done with all the 500 tons of lore they drop on you at the very end of the game, but instead they just tell it all to you and then the game just ends. Like, imagine what the world would be like for the characters after knowing everything they are told. It would lead to such a more interesting series than just... well, this.

I don't wanna sound rude or anything, but Fuga was already frustrating enough to deal with as it was really repetitive and there was too much time between each 1-minute cutscene. Not to mention, I guess I messed up my playthrough so I was told by the game to play through the ENTIRE thing again to get the best ending. Even in my first playthrough I was already getting tired of the monotonous slog.

Another gripe I had with the game (which is probably the biggest reason I'm upset about this turning into a trilogy...) is the serious nature of the game. The entire Tail Bronx series started out as a family-friendly adventure. Then Solatorobo came in with a bit more darker themes of the world having a mysterious past, but all the characters and visual style of the game allowed it to still feel silly and vibrant. ...Then came Fuga, where the series basically became like every single anime I've ever not watched. Bland color pallette (which I understand helps sell the feel of it taking place in a war-torn world, being sepia and all) but that mixed with the idea of children dying and fighting alone without their families, killing soldiers, etc etc... It was just too realistic and dark.

And they're doing it again, except this time somehow making it even darker and even more serious? I can't imagine what the third game is gonna be like... The game alone has a lot of reused assets and mechanics, and I'm not seeing anything notably new in the screenshots or the trailer so, as much as I love this series, I'm not at all excited for this entry. The thought of waiting for another game to release after this one before we get anything new from cyberconnect2 just annoys and saddens me. :sadklein:

BRUH imagine a solatorobo full remake (not just upgraded graphics, but like, truly, a remaster, like the recent final fantasy one). :asciiterror:
Unfortunately I can't imagine Bamco putting all that much money behind a series like this, but it's fun to imagine for sure
You got them all mixed up and you got confused with what they said though. The trilogy that they were referring to was the “Trilogy of Vengeance” that consists about 3 games in general, not 3 Fuga games. Here is what Hiroshi Matsuyama, President of CyberConnect2 had to say about it:

“Well, I first want to restate what this project is about. These are games that will be developed and published by CyberConnect2. “Trilogy of Vengeance” refers to three games: Fuga: Melodies of Steel, Tokyo Ogre Gate, and Cecile."

And the reason Fuga felt too short is because that was the plan all along:

“In the current world of game development, developing a game has become a large-scale endeavor. But about 10 years ago, games were made on a smaller scale, with teams of 10 to 20 people able to fully develop a game in about a year or a year-and-a-half. These cheap games wouldn’t be made to be played for a very long time, but rather aimed to offer a short but rewarding experience, so that the player would enjoy the game, and then move on to another game. This is the kind of experience we want to offer to the players with this project."
Will this game be linear like first one or more open with choosing where to go or grind ? I wish there was a hub with a mission mode or something since your constantly pushed forward, other than that its a interesting game. Ive played solatorobo and tail concerto in the past too, except very late so through alternate means than back then

Perhaps after the projects they could focus on older games, like dot hack games remake or sequel to GU game like they did back then (in parts, like this game and the trilogy of different games), or perhaps something different.. though ive seen lot of people spamming games they want them to work on in the middle of doing this project but they must finish this first. Tokyo ogre gate seem like some kind of high speedy mirrors edge game which i dont know if im interested in, but Cecile looks pretty interesting.

The irony is that they DID make Fuga a trilogy! At least from what I've seen at the end of the game
Ngl, I didn't even know until yesterday that Fuga was meant to be a trilogy, and I couldn't be happier. Who knows, if the game finds its public it may pave the way for a Solatorobo remake or even a follow-up entry in the series?

That's a separate thing; in an interview with Famitsu ( https://www.famitsu.com/serial/fuga/202203/01252853.html ), Matsuyama said that in addition to the Trilogy of Vengeance, Fuga was also planned to be its own trilogy.

Tail Concerto is my favorite game and I would definitely love to get another game like it. I'm happy if we get another Fuga too, but I would also appreciate if they did other things with the Little Tail universe. :fhappy:

Check CC2's official YouTube channel. The CEO of the company answers to fan questions and he is always very honest about it. Like when he told that he always wanted to make a Tail Concerto 2, but whenever he pitched the idea to Bandai Namco he was always being shut down by them. He was always being told "Do you want to sell a sequel to a game that didn't sell well?! Are you crazy or something?"

Buuuut after making so many anime games for them that have sold very well (and they continue to do so to this day), they finally made a better pitch idea for Tail Concerto 2 and with proof that they now know how to make better games that have sold millions of copies. Oooonly to be shut down by Bandai again with the same exact rhetorical question. But! at least that time they also told them that they would never give a greenlight to a Tail Concerto 2 project, buuuut that they WILL give it a greenlight if they were to change the name of the game and have it being played in a another place with other characters. And thus Tail Concerto 2 got "cancelled" and was reborn as Solatorobo.
