“Well, I first want to restate what this project is about. These are games that will be developed and published by CyberConnect2. “Trilogy of Vengeance” refers to three games: Fuga: Melodies of Steel, Tokyo Ogre Gate, and Cecile."
And the reason Fuga felt too short is because that was the plan all along:
“In the current world of game development, developing a game has become a large-scale endeavor. But about 10 years ago, games were made on a smaller scale, with teams of 10 to 20 people able to fully develop a game in about a year or a year-and-a-half. These cheap games wouldn’t be made to be played for a very long time, but rather aimed to offer a short but rewarding experience, so that the player would enjoy the game, and then move on to another game. This is the kind of experience we want to offer to the players with this project."
Check CC2's official YouTube channel. The CEO of the company answers to fan questions and he is always very honest about it. Like when he told that he always wanted to make a Tail Concerto 2, but whenever he pitched the idea to Bandai Namco he was always being shut down by them. He was always being told "Do you want to sell a sequel to a game that didn't sell well?! Are you crazy or something?"
Buuuut after making so many anime games for them that have sold very well (and they continue to do so to this day), they finally made a better pitch idea for Tail Concerto 2 and with proof that they now know how to make better games that have sold millions of copies. Oooonly to be shut down by Bandai again with the same exact rhetorical question. But! at least that time they also told them that they would never give a greenlight to a Tail Concerto 2 project, buuuut that they WILL give it a greenlight if they were to change the name of the game and have it being played in a another place with other characters. And thus Tail Concerto 2 got "cancelled" and was reborn as Solatorobo.
