Far Cry 2 - Realism+ Redux MAP OPTIONS? *.cfg - *.ini ?

I read about Tom's mods before installing R+R and I'm pretty sure that I saw options RE: show my location (green arrow) on the big map by manually editing some game file.

I can't find that comment now & R+R is boring me to tears...
I spend so much time trying to figure out the roads it is NOT fun.

I can't see my position on the big / bigger map cross referencing rivers & railroad tracks to the little GPS screen & it's a waste time trying to correlate directions to the next mission.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO ENABLE MY GREEN ARROW LOCATION ON THE BIG MAP?

There is a player marker version, I'm playing it. - Give me a few, I might be able
to track down the location to DL. - I'm sure someone has it and will reply if necessary.

I played 2 hours using the launcher & then figured out the STEAM shortcut, and have logged 6 hours there (8 total). Knowing my location on the BIG map will be a HUGE time saver!

Great ! - Very glad to be of help. - I understand why it was removed - to make every
aspect a more realistic experience, and encourage players to depend more on landmarks
but there are places in desert travel especially where it all looks very much the same for
long stretches and there's a certain area where I want to turn into the main map and cross
a road safely.

Being able to glance at the map and pin my exact location and heading is important.
Though I know the map very well occasionally this feature is still very helpful.

@thirdkeeper damn, you have 2k hours in FC2 !! INSANE!
I jast got the game on sale. Will do it with Far Cry 2: Realism+Redux mod.
I suprised that there is no much gore in the game, wounds on the bodies disappears after 1second. And there are no pools of blood on the ground... maybe is there some mod that can activate them?

What's really insane is that I didn't start clocking my time in steam until around 2017
and I'd been playing steadily for 8 years prior. I probably have about twice that by now.

I think the G.O.R.E. mod makes larger splatter when ai take hits. Don't know about blood pools, and I doubt it's compatible with other mods. - If this is your first time through I'd
advise to stick with R+R until game's end and then try other mods if your interested.

Even w/ the green arrow on the big map, I am frustrated that every mission pretty much forces me to travel across the entire map - or at least 50% of the map minimum. ARG! I may never finish this game. I tried 3 times when it first came out but absolutely hated the dirty brown world after the beauty of Far Cry 1.

I played Far Cry 1 at least 3 times and loved almost every minute of it. I just did a 2nd run through Far Cry 3 too and was amazed at how much I had forgotten about the game & how fun & beautiful it was... even though there was a lot of "filler" & repeated forts.

That prompted me to try FC2 again w/ mods & the visuals are definitely better, but the game play / malaria / weapon degradation is still very tedious.

But I kind of "had" to play FC2 because I'm going to replay FC4~6 this year too + squeeze in FC3 based Blood Dragon & FC5 based New Dawn + PRIMAL.

I plan to break up the monotony w/ my Batman backlog & "mindless" racing games.

I just completed the Safe Routes Maps for the guide -
After learning these travel actually became an enjoyable experience:

N. Map driving routes are in Chapter (1) first article "Respawns"

S. Map Driving is in Chapter (3) article 4 "The Flip Side - Making the game Harder"
under the heading "Travel and Transport". Also includes Boat, Foot travel and approaches.

You can get to anywhere on either map in 2 to five minutes tops, and only
occasionally have to deal with a single checkpoint.

to talk briefly about any upcoming vid on FC2. [E]

3rd - I am currently trying to "reinvent" my channel since I gave up on it last year, but YouTube is tough with constantly changing rules & algorithms! I am gaming in 4K now, so streaming 4K is not doable (easiest way to make vids tho). I have to record in OBS & recently found a good / free video editing app called Shotcut. I recently learned that less than 1% of youtubers ever get 100K subs & only 5-6% ever get 10K, so it's kinda' discouraging...

I actually started streaming Ghost Recon Wildlands co-op sessions w/ a friend for fun + learned to "push" twitch vids to youtube. Anyway, me & my buddy watched each others vids the next morning & then played again that night using each others vids as "intel". Eventually, we picked up a few co-op regulars & quit streaming vids and things devolved quickly!
