"Running Install Script"?

I haven't played this game in a while and decided to hop on, but I keep getting met with a "running install script" message whenever I try to run it, and there's not even a hint of this happening in task manager. This is the first time I experienced this and I'm using the same PC with the same specs as I did last time I played it. Is there any recommended actions to take for this?

first thing is to check file integrity -

Right click on the game in the list on the left and select
Properties
Installed Files
Verify that the games files are installed correctly

Always launch the game using the Multi-Fix launcher for Far Cry2

In the options menu that runs in Multi-Fix prior to launch -
Be sure to set affinity for multi-proc multi-core systems.
Has many features including the very necessary set FOV

In your In-Game menu set to run in DX9 and turn Vsync ON.
