Can't go through this doorway - invisible wall.

Also, worst controls ever for a long time in a 3rd person game.

Hahaha yeah, same here...

is there something to do before passing that door?
ICS⭐ May 22, 2013 @ 11:15pm
No, you should be able to go through it but for some reason, some events don't trigger and that door is still closed despite it seems open. This is a bug in the game in certain setups, especially higher end computers. EA fixed it on Origin version but never on Steam. Bastards.

Same to me, epic fail port, keyboard + mous its horribel, and have this bug, just at the start epic ...

I didn't :3 Where exactly at the start, the screeny won't load for me.

It's the first door you have to break circuit from to get it open. Some guy yells at the other side and when that door "opens", he's not there. However you see his body get taken with by something. Anyway, that door is the one and this bug does not happen to everyone.

I thought everyone knew about this.

You have to disable vsync in the game's menus just to have some measure of control with your mouse. But this messes up all sorts of stuff that is tied to your frame rate.

So then you have to use your NVIDIA Control Panel (or something comparable) to force vsync on and triple buffering on when Dead Space.exe launches. NVIDIA makes it easy to create profiles for any game on your PC. There are other programs that will do the same for AMD cards.

This particular bug is a scripting error that happens with vsync turned off. A monster is supposed to drop down on that crewman and kill him. With vsync off, the monster won't appear and the whole scripted sequence gets broken, preventing you from going through the doorway.

You will find Dead Space.exe in your [Hard drive]:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dead Space folder.

Not everyone knows these things. I learned this week after i made the post but i ditched this game already.

I never keep vsync on in games. This propably messed up the thing in the first place and i do have a rather new hardware. Bought new system less than 6 months ago.

But that monster does appear, but it seems to not remove that invisible barrier from the door due to high framerate. Too bad. Games like these make me vote with my wallet against companies that don't bother to fix their crap up. In this case, i blame EA that didn't get that patch delivered to Steam but they did on Origin.

I recommend you use your video card software to force vsync and triple buffering on, as suggested, and give the game a fair shake. Vsync isn't going to ruin the experience for you. It's a freaking great game, better than System Shock 2, and you're cheating yourself if you give up on it. I just played through over the last two days and I'm glad I did.

Sry for the thread necromancy.
Tried the vsync and triple buffer thing on an origin installation. Did not work for me. I stopped trying. Looked foreward to play this game.

it happened to me too.

I just turn on V-sync in the game options menu and restart the chapter.

I will give it another try..

Wow.. I should have known.. another EA game that's broken and only works on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Origin servers.. Thanks for the workarounds guys, but I'm going to go ahead and just delete this one. What was I thinking buying an EA game in the first place?

Well I just got this game for free on origin but I had the same problem, but i tried loading from a save at the beginning of the game and after that it works!!
so If someone can try this on steam comment! I tried it with Vsync on and off; I actually like Vsync on because it allows me to actually move properly!!

So I went back to double check if I could start the game with vsync off and try my fix.
Well it doesnt work it turns out that you need Vsync on plus loading from your save.

I bought Deadspace on Steam, and only now just played it.

I did not encounter this bug, i did not mess around in the options, only a better screen resolution. No bugs we're present in my playthrough.

I dont know why it doesn't work for you, the door seems to be open.

I played with a xbox controller, maybe that is the reason why it worked for me?
If you got a controller hook it up to your pc if you can and try it with that
