is there something to do before passing that door?
You have to disable vsync in the game's menus just to have some measure of control with your mouse. But this messes up all sorts of stuff that is tied to your frame rate.
So then you have to use your NVIDIA Control Panel (or something comparable) to force vsync on and triple buffering on when Dead Space.exe launches. NVIDIA makes it easy to create profiles for any game on your PC. There are other programs that will do the same for AMD cards.
This particular bug is a scripting error that happens with vsync turned off. A monster is supposed to drop down on that crewman and kill him. With vsync off, the monster won't appear and the whole scripted sequence gets broken, preventing you from going through the doorway.
You will find Dead Space.exe in your [Hard drive]:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dead Space folder.
I never keep vsync on in games. This propably messed up the thing in the first place and i do have a rather new hardware. Bought new system less than 6 months ago.
But that monster does appear, but it seems to not remove that invisible barrier from the door due to high framerate. Too bad. Games like these make me vote with my wallet against companies that don't bother to fix their crap up. In this case, i blame EA that didn't get that patch delivered to Steam but they did on Origin.
Tried the vsync and triple buffer thing on an origin installation. Did not work for me. I stopped trying. Looked foreward to play this game.
I just turn on V-sync in the game options menu and restart the chapter.
so If someone can try this on steam comment! I tried it with Vsync on and off; I actually like Vsync on because it allows me to actually move properly!!
Well it doesnt work it turns out that you need Vsync on plus loading from your save.
I did not encounter this bug, i did not mess around in the options, only a better screen resolution. No bugs we're present in my playthrough.
I dont know why it doesn't work for you, the door seems to be open.
I played with a xbox controller, maybe that is the reason why it worked for me?
If you got a controller hook it up to your pc if you can and try it with that
