Horrible controls kill this game
Dead space has the second worse controls of any FPS I have ever played. It feels like I am fighting the controls. Even something as simple as turning corners is tricky. Aiming for limbs is only hard because of the controls...

Doesn't matter how great the rest of the game is, if the controls are no good, the game is no good.

I got over 100 steam games, if I could rate my games id probably give this the lowest possible score as its unplayable.

yes, this game have many troubles with the controls, but you can improve the game experience, if you disable the V-sinc of the game, and then you active the V-sinc in your grafics card control panel, i did it, and it works for me.

PD: dead space 2 and 3, have not this problem, only the first game.

First of all, Dead Space is not an FPS. Second, the controls are fine. I actually think DS1 have better controls than DS2 or DS3.

ahaha, yes, you are all the reason, this game is not a FPS, is a third person shooter, and also is a survive horror game, unfortunately, like a "Hotshot", i had problems with the controls, especially with the mouse, but doing what i wrote above, the game works perfectly.

Works great with a controller.

I agree, the controls are definitely sort of "loose" feeling, but once you get used to it there's a lot of fun to be had. Dead Space 3 has perfect controls for this sort of game, in my opinion.

Disable vsync in the game options and it will not feel "loose". I remember having to do that, because it messed up the controls.

Yeah, turning off vsync worked just fine for me. Though now I've got a wired 360 controller and I'm more comfortable playing Dead Space with that (even if it's not as quick) since I originally had the game on that system.

If I ever re-install this game ill disable vsync, but they are so horrendously bad I cannot see how it would improve it that much...

Andrius227: Do not worry about the semantics of weather or not this is a FPS. The fact is controls were so bad it made this game unplayable. I also find it funny you said the controls are fine, then a post later you said you had issues until you did a workaround to fix the 'loose' control problem...

Squid: No luck there neither. I took out my Logitech control (f710) and it was even worse then the mouse. Its like the movements of the controller was in a grid, and you had to move from one grid to another to increase the speed/movement in the game. So you could try to move the stick a bit more to the left, but it would not be picked up unless you were in the next 'grid'. Its kind of hard to explain, but it felt VERY OFF and unresponsive + the delay issues I had with the mouse.

Yeah thanks, guys. Disabling vsync does wonders for this game.

You could always lock the FPS to 60 by messing around in recording software settings.
Then you will have perfect aim without V-Sync.

Annoying game is annoying.. what difference does it make if it's FPS or 3rd person?

Really can't wait for people's digital biometric IDs to be tagged to their online personaes. No more keyboard cowboys since everyone will know who you really are...

You didn't read. Disable vsync. Problem solved.
