Changing FOV on Steam Deck
Is there a way to somehow change FOV on Steam Deck? I know of Widescreen Fixer, but it does not work correctly on Proton - it does not detect the open game.
Is there a way - I do not know - to change the FOV somewhere in cfg files?

I don't know about these things but maybe here?[github.com] Or what about protontricks? Would that get Widescreen Fixer working properly?

This tip is very extreme... You can play it with widescreen aspect ratio on Deck.
1920 x 800 with big black bars top & bottom.
When playing ultrawide it opens FOV horizontally.

Not ideal, yes, but it works well especially on external display.

edit: Under game page, Properties, General, is option to change Decks internal rendering resolution up to 4K....

Unfortunately, Dead Space is not supported by Flawless Widescreen, but thanks, it will be useful for other games.

Yeah.. I saw the unsupported list but I thought it was worth a shot. Unfortunately, this game is in that dead zone between crt monitors and widescreen. It wasn't until about 2008 that PC monitors started to seriously move away from 4:3 displays. I'm inclined to think that there is a solution but I don't have a deck for testing, nor much Linux experience. Good luck.

If ultrawide is too much use 16:9 aspect ratio (1280x720)
This also opens horizontal FOV but black bars top&bottom are less distracting.
