Saved Difficulty Changed?

I've been doing a campaign on Hard for my first run and at some point saving at Chapter 7 it now says I'm playing on Medium. Did the game actually f***ing change my difficulty down? Is there some file I can tweak to fix this?

Swear I am recommending this game less and less with the amount of bugs. Apparently this is a bug caused by the 'Continue Game' option on the main menu that defaults you to medium, regardless if you're playing on Easy, Hard, or Impossible. What a major waste of time... Half way through the game and my file gets dumbed down.

Half-way through the game on hard is 'too bad'? I upp'd the difficulty cause anything normal or below is boring as hell. Game isn't even that hard on hard. Sod off forum troll.

never use "continue game" in the main menu. always click on "load game". that fixed it for me.

you should never use the continue game always load game or delete the other game slots and only use one. I played impossible mode and after loading I saw the medium settings and I was like WTF.
This bug i still on origins version of the game.

this happened to me. FFS I just beat the game and noticed it was on medium even though I been playing on hard up until chapter 6 or 7

Idk if anyone gonna see this, but I found this solution on a different forum post. I jsut confirmed it works, took a bit of messing around though. Once you change the value to your desired difficulty, Load into the file regardless of what the difficulty says, Check the value again to see if it changed, change it once more to the desired difficulty and try saving a game.

Launch Cheat Engine, then Dead Space, and select Dead Space as the process that you want Cheat Engine to edit. Click "add address manually" at the bottom of this page, and enter "Dead Space.exe"+A8ADC0 . This is the file address for the first save file in the list. If your save was set to medium, then it will have a value of 1. You can change this value to whatever difficulty you want: 0 = Easy, 1 = Medium, 2 = Hard, 3 = Impossible.

100% untrue. It is a bug in the game and why you should never "continue game"

Yea, it's really a bummer when someone first encounters the bug. The best thing I can advise is to have multiple saves on the same playthrough and just always load game. The game is relatively stable in terms of bugs but the bugs that are there can be pretty damning.
