Is there a way to increase the subtitles' size? (edit: THERE IS! Solution within)

Dead Space (and 2 and 3) renders its subtitles at 1:1 font size no matter what your screen resolution is. In 720p or even 1080p this is not a problem, they're perfectly readable. But once you get up to higher resolutions all the way up to 4k, well...

...Yeah. Does anybody know of a way to increase the size of the subtitles? I'm alright with prying the game apart with hex editing or Gibbed tools if that's what it takes.

omg this is so weird, why they never fixed this??? Damn it EA. I hope they make a remaster with bigger subtitles and better everything like they are doing with mass effect.

Oh my God, homie, thank you so much for this. I have actually wanted this since around like 2010. I jumped around to several points in the game on the Origin version and it works flawlessly, compresses subtitles for stuff like audio logs and long dialogue to multiple lines as proper. Excellent work, man.

Fantastic! Works just as well as the others. In addition you can alt-tab in Borderless Windowed and change it on the fly, which is cool as hell. These fix SUCH an obvious issue with games that otherwise upscale incredibly well. Thank you for your work.

Does it weirdly upscale the menu and inventory for everyone else as well?
The dialogue text is fine when I upscale to 1.5 but then the inventory and menu text is all over the screen huge af

The cheat table posted by Mafril works for the Origin/EA Launcher version of the game. You can adapt it to the Steam version by opening it with a text editor and replacing this line:

<AssemblerScript>define(address,"Dead Space.exe"+342842)

with the following:

<AssemblerScript>define(address,"Dead Space.exe"+342872)

The cheat table at the bottom of the page does work with the Steam version, but it breaks the UI/Menu text, as others in this thread have noted.
