Is there anyway to increase the radius of your base?
Is there a setting or INI edit or something that allows for a bigger circle?

Not sure about ini settings but at level 10 you can get a second base.

No there isn't. However you can get a 2nd and a 3rd base if you continue to level up your main base. Most people use the 2nd base for mining Ore and the 3rd base for mining Coal though as you're going to need thousands of coal and ingots to refine them into refined and PalMetal later on.
I've been making extra stories to my buildings to extend my surface area.

Trouble I've found with this is creatures seem to have a lot of trouble with navigation once foundations and walls are involved, and even if you yourself intend to handle all the manual crafting (I personally highly recommend hitting Work Speed 500 as the difference is night-and-day), if they have the handiwork trait and aren't assigned somewhere (or more often than not unassign themselves) they'll attempt to come running to that station to help and end up getting stuck a lot more, adding a lot of agitation with manually pulling them in and out of the box to get them unstuck.

If you've come up with a decent build plan that gives them the room they need to move and defeats their hangups with sharp elevation changes, I'd happily take a look at it. As of right now, though, I'm just exceedingly thankful you can use the Dismantle feature on the Build Menu to remove structures without losing any resources, and if they're a container, you get everything they had in them. Game would be agonizingly tedious otherwise, trying to retroactively makeup for the current poor pathing.

Build a Open area for the Pals to work in with out doors. So they have a easy time going in and out.
The radius does increase once or twice, probably based on Base Level, but what would really help is some sort of radius shaper for all the irregular topography. It'd be so nice to not require a very wide, flat area (of which there are only like four suitable places under Lv.20).
But yes, once the Workshop hits and there's an all your base mod, there'll be no going back.
I hope they add a feature that allows us to expand the perimeter size.
I've tried to solve the radius issue building floors, but alpha and big pal have issues, so at the end I put 3 columns to make a floor... and I use glass because it's aesthetically nicer than stone... still I see that many pals have issues with all these columns around
