How to find tons of poisonous slime/farm it?
I tried buildingg an area with spikes and purple slime o nground to spawn slimes but it has barely produced any slime. How to properly farm a lot of that slime?

Monster farms are a bit bad for a single mob. At least for "quick farm". Best way to do it is it look up, how Mob spawns work, ( they spawn 1 mob per "Cell" every 15-20 minutes ) So, i would say your best choice is to farm it in the jungle biome.
Unless you want to beat up poison slime boss and scab all gear from poison slime boss. Or....

Abuse poison slime boss leaving poison slime floor to farm poison slime spawn. Just get as many poison slime spawn to all over place it all over the biome(that probably going over board). You can just remove it after you done farming it. You don't really need to cover whole floor though.

they might need the poison to locate the boss, which would explain why they need so much.

This guide is a good one on the subject, though it's very in depth.

Basically the game divides the map into 16x16 tile squares and every 15 minutes or so it checks each square and spawns monsters depending on the number of tiles in the square. Usually you only need 13 spawning tiles of a type to max your chance of getting that monster.

So to get more purple slimes you'll need to put more clumps of 13 tiles spread out in these 16x16 squares. They roughly line up with the core in the center.

If you want to get really technical, there's a map tool that will show you where the lines are for the spawning squares.
