Really fun up until "War Scenario"
I don't know what this, I don't care about it, it's harder and less familiar than the previous levels, and it's just terrible. I'm going to give it one more try and find something else to play.

It gives you a ton of coin and you now have access to giant war traps so the goal is to prevent them from even entering the castle in the first place and the bbig traps give you what you need to deal with the hoards of orcs.

I don't remember which things they start you with but you can usually just spam the big units like the paladins at the gate or have rows of archers to clear groups of orcs and then as they funnel into past the bridge there is a good corner to start setting up a kill box to grab any orcs that slip through.
Some levels seem to be designed for 2 players in mind. But the first war scenario is pretty easy since they all funnel through a bridge. It is when they come from 2 or 3 paths when it gets hard.

War Scenario maps were the best addition to the series.

I think it's good cause you can decide not to use them at all. It's just an extra way of playing the game.

Everyone wants to use war scenario traps on war scenarios. It's so much easier creating kill rooms that you can funnel the orcs to once they break the doors down. Front lawn is the only one that I play out on the front lawn. Barricade the right side, use 2 outposts on the left pushed up to the slanted hill. Barricade off so they are forced to walk to the far side of the outposts. Then you can have all your traps on the walls, ceilings and floors of the outpost. Super easy to beat, even on rift lord. They are very easy. If there are multiple paths like on second war scenario, block them with baricades so there is only one path.

Also I find turrets you can enter as very strong (catapult and balista)
The beauty of the war scenarios is that you can decide for yourself whether you want to defend outside or inside the castle walls, or a mixture of both. I feel they are more rewarding, because after getting your killbox running you usually get an additional wave where the thing actually works like it should and you don't need to fight as much. In the non-war-scenario levels I find this game much more reliant on fighting, but war scenarios are where a good trap setting can work satisfyingly. Personally, I tend to prefer the defense inside the castle walls, using (mostly) the non-war-scenario traps - as this seems to make things easier somehow.

Fair enough I suppose - it's not that the war scenarios aren't fun, it's just that, yeah, they seem designed for co-op, and they also pull you out of your character development. I went back a couple days later and played it fresh and enjoyed it... but then I didn't want to go back to my character anymore and quit the game again. I get that it's not really an RPG, but I would like to play my role.

War scenarios are require traps and some brain logic.
Last days i joined some random games and i have see that people don't know how to build.
Bellow you can see how you can beat war scenarios maps without any weapons.
You only need a corner with the best traps for that build

This is amazing! How long did it take you to come up with these solutions?

These maps was really easy to beat but Desert Wall was kinda tricky to find a proper killing box within time, I couldnt find one so i made 3 killing boxes!
