Framerate?
I remember hearing that the epic games version was locked at 60 fps. Does this version has its frame rate locked or unlocked?

You heard wrong, Epic was never locked to 60fps.

The PC version of FF7R only goes up to 120FPS, even if the main menu is uncapped and VSync is disabled. Rest assured, I got a Cheat Engine table to uncap that. This may break after an update, but I already added the signature as a comment on the script. Make sure to adjust the FPS cap option quickly after enabling the script, or to make sure to do this before the game reaches the title screen.

If you have a 144Hz monitor without FreeSync, you are gonna have a bad time if you don't cap the game at 72Hz or uncap the framerate manually.

Yea SQEX is pretty retarded to be a billion dollar company and keep capping there PC games at 120FPS/HZ..
Earth to SQEX: PC MONITORS NEVER EVER SUPPORTED 120hz. That's only TVs! We do not all play PC games on TVs!
99% of high refresh rate monitors are 144hz, with 160, 165, 240 and 360 being the other common options. You can not even buy a 120hz monitor if you tried, they don't exist, TVs only.

To make matters worse, my monitor can't even run at 120hz if I wanted, it's not supported. I can manually hack in the mode, but that breaks it's 10-bit color support, so it looks all wrong.

That said, I played it on my 144hz monitor fine, forcing DX11 + SpecialK to get perfect frame pacing + GSync results in smooth gameplay and not really noticeable vs native 144hz games.

But yea if you don't have a VRR display as kingkrouch said, try his mod.

calling people retarded while writing the most embarrassing and casual's dunning kruger post ever...

so let's unpack this cringe, kiddo.

1.

120hz monitors in the form of led lcds are the ones who started all the hz hype and high refresh rate glory one can enjoy today.

special mention goes out to the goat, the legend, the benq xl 2420t.

in the last ~15 years there have been hundreds of 120hz monitors occupying the price comparisons.
even today there are still 30 120hz monitors available in my region in a price comparison app.

2.

if your defect garbage monitor doesn't support 120hz that's on it. every working monitor with 120hz or more supports 120hz. nothing broken, everything just works. at 4k 10bit (pc) the nvidia driver even only allows 165hz and 120hz as seen on my samsung neo g7 below.

3.

no dx forcing or specialk stuff needed. at 4k hdr with max settings every nongarbage gpu hits the 120fps wall and has a perfect straight frametimes line. same with 144hz.

4.

stfu cringe clown.

depends on release date and price class.

Sounds like someone who's using a 60Hz display and is shocked that turning off VSync results in nothing but screen tearing. If you did buy a high refresh rate panel, chances are, it's set to 60Hz in the display settings of Windows as a safe default (Something which has been a thing since old Windows versions).

Cutting the time that each frame takes from 16.67ms to ~8.4ms is definitely noticeable.

it's not only about seeing.
it's about feeling the difference in the relation between mouse movement in your hand and the crosshair movement on the screen.

i see.
the most likely problem is your incompetence.
how should i phrase it... 300hz 4k monitors do not exist.
current 4k monitors exist in a range from 60hz to 240hz.

Ah yes, the good ole Steam forum user and console fanboy capping. And by capping, I don't mean a framerate limiter. lol.
B1gD4ddy Jun 1, 2023 @ 3:07pm
console fanboy? i have a 7950x3d and a 4090.
there is no 300hz 4k monitor in existence .
the 4k monitor with the highest refresh rate currently has 240hz.
wtf are you talking about cringe clown kid?
stop trolling.
