The mine can be upgraded
After 150 hours in the game I discovered that the mine can be upgraded to extract additional minerals and improve production speed. I thought the mines were not worth the effort given the production speed vs coal kiln + additional lumber cutter. Well apparently they are 100% worth the effort when upgraded.

I never build mines unless I'm hurting for road building materials. Thanks for sharing this!

yeah it took me quite a while to realize that was an option, and even longer to fully understand the differences. At first I only looked at how much extra ore they make available, with the last option being a clear an obvious winner. Nowadays I usually get the pony for the first upgrade, fairly on, since the production cycle is fairly slow. The cart can also be pretty useful for mines further out from storage and makes deliveries on it's own without requiring full storage. Though if there are only one or two nodes covered by the mine, I would probably still just go for the third option. Also not sure I'd even bother with the second tier then. You don't get the upgrade materials back when you demolish a mine.

The option to upgrade the mine is very well hidden. Without this forum, I would never have discovered it most likey. From there, the journey was like Narandia describes it. Though I often don't bother with the second tier at all -> for one or two nodes, it's not really worth it and for 3 or 4, I rarely exhaust the mine anyways.

Same, except I still do. No idea what the other options do.

One makes mining faster, the other sends the yield from the mind directly to the warehouse.

Pony increases production speed, cart is an automatic transport to storage
What if you pick the cart twice?

Never tried. I would assume you'd get two carts doing deliveries, which would probably be rather overkill, unless the mine is extremely far away from any storage.

i did. Usless. One cart more then enough even if it has to travel about 15-20 long road.

I Always start with minecart and add the right one later if i have free resources. Imho minecart is the most efficient on practise. Workers only go outside to take a rest.
What, so there's a literal cart travelling to the warehouse? It doesn't just teleport items there?

I noticed the upgrades the first time I built a mine, but it was only a few days ago that I realized there was a purpose to the upgrades other than the reinforcement.
