It's best to read up on creepypastas, liminal spaces and the backroom phenomenon before playing this game. As it is free and short I think this is a good start if you are getting familiar with the Backrooms.

This is essentially a walking sim but with a horror atmosphere. The protagonist uses a workstation to enter Level 13 of the Backrooms and investigate. Occasionally he needs to return to check for malfunctions or to eat before he can proceed.

The game - similarly to other games in this subgenre - uses a filter that gives a '90s VHS recording vibe but causes pixelation that may not be to everyone's liking. In fact, the protagonist is probably using a camera to record events as we can see the duration in the lower-right corner of the screen.

But is there a coherent story? Not really. There are sequences following one after the other. The protagonist also speaks in Spanish but no location information is provided. On the other hand, I found it interesting how the walking sessions are interrupted by short POV cutscenes to give us a more movie-like experience.

Don't expect much in terms of playtime and the game misses any kind of options menu. It is meant to be played this way. However, we finally have a backroom game where the shortest possible time is spent in the yellow-coloured office complex. Do check this one out if you like short horror games with only a few jumpscares and in case you can appreciate special aesthetics given to a game.

It's free, but it's garbage, and here is why:

- Credit where it's due, the graphics are phenomenal and capture the essence of the backrooms, same for the audio. Atmosphere is spot on, and as an avid Backrooms Wiki reader i couldn't but appreciate the care. But that's all I have to say for positive things.

- Absolutely zero options whatsoever, not even a basic menu for resolution selection or setting the audio volume. Even flash games from 2007 you could play in your browser had this, yet somehow this doesn't.

- No explanation of the control scheme, if there's any. Is there an interaction button? There isn't? How am I supposed to know without a controls menu?

- There are situations where if you go through the wrong door, you'll have to repeat large sections of the game you already have passed. I am not sure if this is is by design or instead if it's an oversight, but it's not fun and add nothing to the experience other than useless repetition of a linear section.

- Limited controller support: you can move with it, but you can't press ENTER which instead must be done with a keyboard in menus. How hard is it to add A = ENTER when a controller is plugged in? Apparently, hard enough for this game to not have it.

I gave up on this game when, after repeating the initial area TWO times because I went through a door I probably wasn't supposed to, I found myself stuck without anywhere to go, and nothing could be interacted with (if there's an interaxt button at all, I can't know, because there isn't a f**king controls menu!).

Just don't waste your time with this indie trash.

At the current time (05/31/21), the game does not actually allow you to play. The idea seems incredible and the trailers look awesome. Please let me know if this game gets up and running properly.

This game is a walking simulator-type game, which combines POV cutscenes and gameplay segments that follow a linear path (basically interactive cutscenes) to provide a suspenseful and tense experience.

No items, no multiple deaths, and no challenge.

I would recommend the game though, but just don't expect something you won't get.

I mean, it's meh. It's free, and it's got the graphics down, but like, I don't get it. It wasn't creepy, scary, at the most, it was a bit weird. Really underwhelming honestly, can't recommend it. Doesn't feel like a game, or even a walking simulator, it just kinda... exists.
