Other games like The Planet Crafter?
I 100%d the game (all 55 achievements). I left a glaring review of it. I played it in coop with my wife.

But the itch this game created on me is still needing a scratch.

Are there any other terraforming open world survival crafting games there?

I already have Empyrion and Space Engineers, and they do not fit well the terraforming process. I also have Subnautica (and Below Zero) which is similar to Planet Crafter but not about terraforming. So don't suggest these, please.

I'd buy Planet Crafter 2 or DLCs in a flinch, but as of now they're unannounced.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that the best game that's like Planet Crafter will be Planet Crafter 2, or the DLC. ;)

I've had a look for something similar but not yet found anything I'm up for. It's a very particular thing and I was fortunate to come to PC after full release so didn't have to develop a taste for it in EA/beta.

It's great that small teams can make such amazing games though that utterly captivate people.

I also started playing PC after the release. Seems there is more being added though, so not really complete yet. I'll probably come back to PC after enough has been added to be worth playing again.

Sure, Planet Crafter is the most like Planet Crafter, but I doubt anyone is that fixated (well maybe a few) on Planet Crafter. It isn't perfect and just playing the same thing in my opinion gets boring. That coming from someone who had to play 10k hours of ARK before realizing I was bored to death with it.

I'll recommend Wildmender again, as for such a good game, with "Very Positive" reviews, it has so few playing it. Probably because the release was about 8 months ago. I'm thinking it is the most similar game one could find, but I've not played all the ones recommended here. Like subnautica, because I don't like the idea of drowning that is in that game.

Wildmender has automation too, but does it similar to Palworld, but using animals. A frog that collects stuff for you. Bees that defend and repair stuff for you. Something that crafts a few items too. It does have some violence, but the over all theme is one of saving the world (not the earth, but a fantasy world). It has plenty of story similar to PC. A nice end game and also you can play past end game if you want, just like PC. What it doesn't have though is much base building, as you live more in tune with nature and a large building would not make sense with its main theme. One play through is similar in length to PC (if you remove the last half of the terraforming that drags on and on in PC). You also do a type of terraforming in Wildmender too.

Great if you like games that aren't first person shooters. The camera movement in this game made me nauseated. I'm too used to the camera view being where you are looking. Seems I can't go back to these old style games anymore. Tried it, but had to refund.

I've been eyeing Survive Fountain of Youth. Its not a terraforming sim, but follows the roadmap of most survival games. Just officially left EA.

There's also Medieval Dynasty, though thats a little different.

Surviving Mars is a city builder type game with a dlc that asks you to terraform mars. It's pretty good.
I second this, the terraforming there is also pretty satisfying.

Well, OP asked for games with TERRAFORMING in them.
The only one I remember came out in 1990 called Sim Earth
It's probably free now

A lesson just because this way they have upset ONE buyer? Really? I don't think many people are specially sensitive about this kind of game introduction, my common sense tells me that this kind of capriciousness must be very rare and can be safely be ignored by developers because it is an interesting and creative take on the genre which pleases a good amount of people. I for one love it.

(BTW, how would the developer find out that it was THIS specific reason that one refund was made? Did you inform that on the refund reason?)

No, not rare, because you have just 2 hours with steam to get a full refund. You have to decide before then, so the developer needs to present something to the user in those first two hours that makes them want to play the game 50 more hours.

How would they find out? Only if they read this post.

BTW, I personally don't like puzzle type games. I doubt that is rare. I do like sandbox survival games though, which the game is not in the first two hours.
So, I finally bought Penkura, started playing yesterday, and you DIDN'T like that introduction? How? I was smiling all the time, great introduction, great way to immerse the player in its universe, in giving reason and motivation to go on, great mysteries too, I loved the half-life references, I like the innovative way to build, and this game is cheaper than its alternatives. What's not to like?

And a couple is developing it? That would be the same as for Planet Crafters, no? It's a French couple, if I recall. I'd buy it even if it was a solo developer -- many of my favorite recent games have been from solo developers, like Underspace and Spacebourne 2.

Check out a game called Per Aspera! I got it in some bundle somewhere, but I really enjoyed it and the terraforming is great!

subnautica, 7 days to die, satisfactory. There's lots that are LIKE it, but none that I know of so far leaning to one side of the side of the crafting survival. it's relatively unique. I'm very glad that they've sold so many copies because it can raise our hopes that they'll do another,
