Other games like The Planet Crafter?
I 100%d the game (all 55 achievements). I left a glaring review of it. I played it in coop with my wife.

But the itch this game created on me is still needing a scratch.

Are there any other terraforming open world survival crafting games there?

I already have Empyrion and Space Engineers, and they do not fit well the terraforming process. I also have Subnautica (and Below Zero) which is similar to Planet Crafter but not about terraforming. So don't suggest these, please.

I'd buy Planet Crafter 2 or DLCs in a flinch, but as of now they're unannounced.

Surviving Mars is a city builder type game with a dlc that asks you to terraform mars. It's pretty good.
I second this. Though gameplay is completely different, the terraforming is quite well implemented. You will need to master the base game, however, and it's a city builder, not a survival crafter.
Thank you all for the suggestions. It turns out that I have most of the games suggested... The two subnauticas, Empyrion, Space Engineers, Breathedge, Surviving Mars with the terraforming DLC, Volcanoids, Satisfactory, Enshrouded, Valheim... The others I added to my wishlist for when it's on sale. Except for Osiris New Dawn... I was following this game when it was removed from Steam, it seems more a scam than a game currently. And Starmade doesn't have the best reviews.

Factorio is a good game with terraforming, except you terraform it back to an inhospitable planet by polluting the skies and seas, cut down forests, and cover the world in concrete.
Another thing you might consider is mods that creates a new gaming experience or adds to the existing one. Space Engineers and Factorio have a lot of mods.

Maybe Occupy Mars. The is no terraforming but there is base building and exploration, wreck bases to loot, technical progression and the traditionnal oxygen, drink, eat management.

I was so ready to get that game. But it's EA. I'm avoiding EA.

WHY ARE ALL THESE GAMES IN EARLY ACCESS!!!

There are any of them already released and actually completed?

Edit: Subnautica don't count. Already have that one

There is a game where you spread life from a lifeless planet I heard about months ago but never tried it (maybe it was actually this game, no idea), but here is one that sounds similar, but never played:

Oops, now that I posted it, I see it would be a similar game, but not released yet :)

It's not terraforming, but it is a fun take on base building: I'm looking forward to Aloft -- they've only got a demo, right now, but there is a lot of game to play in it. I've turned the difficulty down to avoid combat, altogether. Or not, if you like a little bashy bashy. Demo contents is on par with a lot of earlier game EA releases I've tried.

Personally waiting for Forever Skies to get out of EA. Looks very promising:

I was going to say I came from Forever Skies to Planet Crafter and FS is a lot of fun.
Gorgeous graphics and building your airship is a blast.
The down side is performance might be an issue if you have a less than beefy machine to play on.

a lot are named already.
maybe you can look at "astro colony" is more like satisfactory
or "starmade" if you like a sandbox game where you can harvest full planets for ressources.
"volcanoids" with way more fights and a bit clunky
Astro Colony looks cool.
I tried to get into Volcanoids but it's so weirdly designed, it's open world yet doesn't reward exploration. You can dig underground with the drill but you can't resurface anywhere unless you walk there first and clear the other drill from the parking spot. Kinda defeats the purpose of putting guns on your own drill.
I actually like the clunky/rustic feel of it, and the combat system actually works great.
I think Volcanoids needs to shut up and let me play it. I feel constantly micro managed in that game. 😆

I wonder if you might like Terra Nil. It is a game about trying to restore a polluted environment. It's more of a puzzle game as you manage your crafting resource to build machines that will clean up and restore the environment, reintroduce creatures, and then clean up after yourself. It's a short game though, and not a crafting/survival game.
These two were already mentioned but this game really felt like a cross between No Man's Sky and Subnautica but are both really good. After playing this, I decided to go back and give NMS another go since it's been quite a few years.
