Controller setup
It's a bit weird that I have to go to configuration setting on the Days Gone game page in my library to get my XBOX ONE X controller to work as the game for some reason does not recognise the XBOX controller inputs for movement (on foot or bike) or for movement in the ability wheel.

For some reason in the configured setup, movement with the left analogue stick is missing entirely. It's a simple fix but I would expect my NEW games to start with this already configured.

Otherwise game seems very well optimised but then it uses that old workhorse, Unreal engine and not some in house one, so you can expect that the game will run smoothly with very few or little tweaks required on most modern machines out there.

EDIT: If like me you recently updated configuration on your controller to take into consideration the new screenshot button on the new Series X controller then you may need to configure movement for that configuration. Apologies this is actually user error.

For controller issues / steering (analog stick) not working:

TURN OFF steam support and everything will be fine. STEAM->SETTINGS->CONTROLLER
In the "Gneral Controller" Menu disable ALL checkmarks!!! Read it somewhere in a discussion, THAT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ME ...

so, not a game issue - rather than a steam one, right?? ;-)

That's the amazing thing about PC. You can use any input method your heart desires :)

Yup.... go into big picture mode, and under the general controller settings make sure that all the boxes are un-ticked.

When I did this the Xbox One Controller worked. It didn't when I had the box ticked off.

Yeah if I wanted to use a hair dryer I probably could. Sad little troll is getting no attention from anyone so has to create some. Pathetic.

If that is a joke, you seriously need to work on your material or better yet just give up entirely.

Disable Steam Input. You can do this globally or for just the game.

For just the game:
right click on the game in the steam library and go to Properties -> Controller. In the OVERRIDE FOR DAYS GONE drop down select Disable Steam Input.

Globally you can do:
Steam -> Settings -> Controller. Click on General Controller Settings and uncheck the configuration support check boxes.

Modern games don't need Steam Input since they have proper native controller support. Steam Input is mainly useful for older games. I recommend disabling it globally and only enabling it if a game actually needs it.

Thanks for this, I did actually change the configuration the other day to add the extra XBOX inputs as the Series X controller comes with a screenshot button on the controller that does nothing when pressed so I mapped that to taking screenshots so that I don't have to keep pressing keyboard keys to grab them when playing with the controller.

That must have borked it up somehow. User error it seems LOL

Not an option, if I do that, I have no controller support at all.

Thanks, this solved my issues with the Xbox ONE Bluetooth controller :)

Can you do it for just the game?
