"Is it worth it?", the rising costs of video games.
With the rising costs of AAA titles and games approaching the $100 investment mark (add-ons, cosmetics, and any additional added costs) does Deathloop provide an adequate ROI?

Denuvo already has me in the "Dont Purchase" checkbox, but beyond bad judgement from corp greed at the cost of performance and end user satisfaction; is the game worth it with an average 20 hour to completion mark?

As someone who's been dealing with prices of 100 USD or over* as the BASE price for PC games for well 20 years now, my advice is ALWAYS shop around. If, unlike me, you're not in Japan, this is very easy to do. Only ever buy a game if you're happy to part with the price being charged at the time of your purchase. If you think you'll regret it, don't buy it.

I picked DeathLoop up from GMG for around 49 USD. Nearly HALF of what it's priced at on Steam for me. If (like some games) my only option was to buy it on Steam at the near 100 USD price, I wouldn't have bothered.

Case in point. I don't believe Tales of Arise is worth the 90 USD asking price for just the BASE game. As Bandai have blocked out-of-region key activations on Steam, I have no alternative options for purchasing a PC copy. So on PC, I'm passing.

I'll probably pick it up on my second choice system, Series X, instead at the US price. A price I'm happy to pay.

* Until about 8 years ago, when Steam finally got visibility in Japan, we were still mostly limited to physical PC releases which always had an RRP of "Open Price". So stores never charged less than 100 USD (10,000 JPY), and never lowered prices.

I didn't make any money playing this game so I got a 0% ROI.

Then again, I don't view games as sound financial investments. They are a total waste of money, but I view them as a luxury/entertainment commodity.

Games on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis used to cost $69.99 and $79.99, as some of my games that I got way back then still have price stickers on them.
So games costing upwards of $100 isn't that much compared to what games were like back then and how much they cost.

I agree with what people said about entertainment not being investment, and also, it's impossible to answer this question without knowing what $100 means to you. I enjoyed the game and had no issues with Denuvo.

Well...that's why I buy digital games 95% of the time, I got Deathloop on 30% discount for 40 euros. Now it's worth it.

I can't speak for your region but here its 60 dollars, which has been the standard PC price for half a decade or longer.

I am a big saver, but I went and bought this because it's Arkane and I don't regret it a little bit.

I got 17 hours for completing the game without trying to be a completionist, I think this time is very reasonable, considering 100% of it was fun.

Also IndieGala Store -17% off both standard or deluxe. Still to high imo.

Remember Bethesda Softworks has to give Valve anywhere from 30% to 20% revenue share when you purchase the game on Steam. : P

Death Loop SteamWorks PC Exclusivity by Bethesda Softworks, when the EPIC Store would only take 12% revenue share from them per game sale. GG Not everyone :luv: Steam you know? :steammocking:

Bethesda has there own store front. Which you can buy the game from. They get 100% of that purchase. Why is it still on steam then? Because steam has a built in consumer base and Bethesda knows they will make more money selling on steam with the 30% revenue share than if they didn't sell the game on steam and only sold it on there store front. The question you should really ask is why bethesda isn't selling on Epic.......
