Flame Strike can be used to apply fire to your weapon like Fire Grease does by using it then following up with a heavy attack. Useful for dogs and hands and some other enemies that freak out about fire.
The Ashes themselves are good at doing their job, with Black Flame Tornado being the ultimate boss killer and stunlock tool for anything human-sized. But yeah, a little bit more variety wouldn't hurt.
Entirely fair correction, but yeah, my point is definitely more so on "I wish there was more", especially given the only Black Flame AOW only functions on polearms
Another option you could try is using either bloodflame blade or blackflame blade paired with a flashy weapon skill.
Prelates charge is capable of stunlocking the crap out of anything without monstrous poise, such as Malenia, and does a frankly insane amount of damage.
And blackflame tornado...well I don't think I even need to say anything about that one, do I? If you've ever used it you know exactly how broken it can be.
At least, once you have the corresponding whetstone, you can turn your weapon into any elemental one.
But I sure hope for more cool flame-based attack from the DLC.
Arguably blood type ones have it the worst. You only have 4. Or poison if you wanna count that which only has 2.
Sacred/Magic ones have the biggest amount, everyone else is doing as bad as the fire ones if not worse.
