The "Unsheathe" Ash of War is the most pointless AoW in the entire game
(Note: "Ash of War" is the name for the item before its gets put onto an armament. The ability the Ash of War confers is called a Skill.)

This Ash of War is only usable on katanas, of which only two are infusable: Uchigatana and Nagakiba. And both of those already have Unsheathe as their default skill.

There are literally zero weapons in the entire game this Ash of War is worth using on.

Why did the devs even bother coding this AoW in?

Not useless for the uchi if you want something other than 'standard' infusion.
It still lets you change the Infusion if you want, say, Keen or Magic scaling but want to still use the Unsheath art.

Guess he doesnt know what that is prolly because he got carried by RoB the whole game and didnt need to use it

Still lets you change the scaling though. a sharp or quality katana is better than a plain one. Not useless, you just didn't take in all the factors.

It's only existence is for changing infusion. I have a rl55 int/fth invader who uses it on the washing pole to get a cold infusion

I'm just pissed From didn't give us a Spinning Chain AoW for Flails. Why do Katanas get their own AoW while Flails don't?

I concede this. It is a bit odd, but flails are even more niche than katana's I suppose (ironically, for a game in a western european medieval setting).

Calling something useless is probably one of the best ways to be wrong about a subject.

I love flails too. One of my favorite weapon types.

Especially since flails were actually prevalent in Japan and Europe. Not extremely common because of their limited use, but they were used in both places.

See I didn't even know that part. I just know they are iconic weapons when talking about Medieval Europe.

While the western 'ball-and-chain' flail wasn't present in feudal Japan, weapons based on the same concept certainly existed; the most famous is the nunchaku. Another is the kusarigama, a kama (sickle) with a weighted chain at the end (or two kama attached at the base). Easily crafted (and disguised as) from farming implements, the wielder would use the chain to whip the enemy or entangle his weapon, then finish them with the kama. A very effective weapon for a ninja attacking an armoured samurai, to punch through his armour.

The kusarigama looks pretty awesome. Surprised I've never seen it in a video game.
