in the DS3 days a few exploits that got fixed kept being feared by many people simply because they didn't inform themselves properly and so they also kept spreading the misinformation that they were still relevant. I would like to not see the same thing happen with ER too (so far it's been pretty good tho).

Damn, uncapping framerate can get you banned? I wanted to but I'm glad I didn't after reading this

Bandai can't reverse a 180 day ban anyways, in fact not even From can. It's completely automated and triggered by a handful of things. Typically you get a 2 week warning which means
- it's not actually a ban and you need to verify your game files and/or fix a corruption in your save file
- you got reported for cheating multiple times by other players with evidence
- you had a 2 weeks warning but ignored it/didn't read it and your window for fixing your save file is gone

I would verify your game files, and there are tools that can check your save file for corruption. I would turn off steam cloud save and do a manual backup of your save file periodically. Steam cloud save causes issues in many games tbh its not fantastic

It's impossible for me to get reported for cheating since I play normally, never went to pvp arena because as you can see my equipment and level is trash as hell, always getting invaded. I'm not sure about save files corruption I'll check it out today

I'd expect as much seeing as how half the time I launch the game I get "can't log in to online services due to framerate abnormality" or somesuch because my game hangs at launch a tad.
Like okay, I get it, my pc needs an upgrade.

You probably get a strongly worded letter in the mail and a call to your parents for having an FPS over 120.

in my opinion they simply couldn't bother unbanning people this time around. maybe they didn't want to get that increased influx of requests due to elden ring having by far more players than DS3.

btw they don't use EAC for bans but only as an anti-tampering system. so, for what it's worth, EAC isn't the culprit.

If EAC isn't the culprit, what is? Flagging and banning someone that only progressed a little of the game normally for 180 days with a false reason, now I can't play with my friends and get invaded by cheaters. See the 5 achievements and my poor ass inventory.. didn't even get to half and I'm forced to play with cheaters the rest of the game until 180 days passed. I don't want to play offline too, at that point I'd rather get a cracked version. Paid for story and COOP not playing by myself or with cheaters

it's unconfirmed yet whether this time around, too, you play with other banned players or if you can't play with others at all.

btw it's surely a save file corruption. either caused by cloud saves or by a bug in the game itself. sad but true, I've seen other cases in the past.

Verify game files.
If that doesn't work, defeat Rennala. Not even joking here, if you attack the sweetings/juvenile scholars that can sometimes be in the rafters before starting the boss fight your save gets flagged as invalid until you defeat Rennala. I know because I had this issue before and everyone was saying it was because I had the brave set, but all it was in the end was a bad flag from killing a sweeting before defeating Rennala. Brave Set and Ragged Set used to be items you could own without getting softbanned but in a patch a few months ago they were marked with [ERROR] before their name, and the patch after that having them would get you softbanned.

Speaking of that why the ♥♥♥♥ did they not add the Brave Set to the game proper, all it needed was an updated description for a bit more lore consistency. You even see a ghost over in dragonbarrow wear the altered version and you see multiple NPCs wearing the set in the loading screen tips. There was also a ghost by the Limgrave arena that wore the proper version but he got removed after the coliseum update.

You can do save scumming as much as you like. Rumors about legal saves being banned are false.

99% of it is... yeah, cheating, other 1% maybe corruption. There's a very popular coop cheat out there with millions of downloads since it makes the game easy mode. Wonder if people are experimenting too much with it and not properly attending to their save files
