Can't really say yet, the best would be to wait for release to try. Some win10 "exclusives" games are running fine on 7, some needing some tinkering of course.

it is widely known at this point that elden ring is a dx12 game on pc with no dx11 path. this makes windows 10 necessary. there is nothing you can do about it. accept it and move on. there is no discussion left. those are facts. and its not a win10 exclusive. it just uses software stuff win7 just cant provide. so either get w10/11 or play it on console

No its not, its assumed based on the redacted minimum requirements that are believed to really be the recommended, its entirely possible that like some other games the real minimum could have dx11 as well. The only problem then would be if microsoft have asked fromsoft to fudge the game for no reason, like with God of war and stop people playing on win7 without using a mod and with EAC being in that could mean no online play.

Why stay on windows 7 anyway? Windows 10 is superior (now, not a couple years or so ago) unless you have ancient hardware, and chances are if you have ancient hardware, you aren't playing anything modern anyway.

You're most likely need at least windows 10 or 11 because DirectX 12 is not supported for any older operating system. This by the way also entirely nullifies the chance for Linux support (RIP steam deck users). I mean, it's 2022, time to put dead software to the dead software graveyard.

And they probably didn't test or support W7 even if it's dx11.

I miss W7... W10 sucks... However, if you want to play newer games, it's time to figure something else out. I'm not sure this will work with linux either, so...not a lot of options.

there is always a console as a option,game is still gonna be locked to 60 both on pc and ps5

Unless they were really off base with the initial requirements it wont run on windows 7 due to that pesky DirectX 12. While it's possible that the info was incorrect and its running DirectX 11 and thus would work, I wouldn't hold your breath.

There isn't any legitimate reason for anyone to be running Windows 7, though. Any system made in the last almost 7 years is DX12 capable. Anyone who thinks Windows 7 is superior to anything modern needs to upgrade their potato. Windows 11 is junk for now, but it will improve. Chances are, if you aren't running DX12, you have a potato. Just saying.

People need to quit linking that. Even Cyberpunk 2077 is pulling Windows 7 support, after offering it at first. Know why? Windows 7 doesn't even fully support DX12, never have, never will.

Windows 7 is dead as a platform, period.

Shame it doesn't work. That guy just reposts stuff from another user, trying to steal the credit. All it is, is a Vulkan wrapper, which as you'll notice in posts, don't work in Windows 7.

If you don't know how to use the patch doesn't mean that the Patch doesn't work.

Not only put some DLL Files, VKD3D-Proton and the game itself also need to be modified to play properly on Win7.
