Complete Ranni’s questline for Black Knife Tiche?
Is it true that we need to complete Ranni’s questline in order to get the Black Knife Tiche ashes? And also need to defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void? Correct me if I’m wrong. Thank you!

you need to progress pretty far into her questline. you'll have to eventually kill Astel to get access to the next area, where you can find an evergaol which rewards Black Knife Tiche

Is Black Knife Tiche ashes better than the Mimic Tear ?

Mimic Tear's effectiveness varies greatly - it is as good as your build is. Meaning, it can be completely busted and completely useless.

Tiche, on the other hand, is a consistent Ash - agile, good damage, decent HP pool at +10, plus some Destined Death as a cherry on top.

I started using her, during the ng7 final bosses. She just melts them.

Why is it that peoples experiences with this summon vary so much. I have a +10 tiche on a new character, and she gets deleted every time i summon her. Gets stance broken every 5 seconds, does no damage, dodges nothing, it's weird. Yet for some reason so many people say she "melts" bosses.

She is quite squishy and not tunned for high NG+. You are better with your mimic equiped with a Black knife or Maliketh black blade if you want destined death. Also the mimic will heal itself to nearly full HP if you have raw meat dumplings equiped!

I did not know that. Then again, I never really branch out. I’ve used the same setup, since I started. Only difference being max level, is throwing boulders, when enemies want to fly away. I’ll try that out at the end of this cycle. Thank you.

Tiche is very good at distracting bosses. She moves fast and blinks. So not so tanky but the blinking helps her defense. I find Tiche survives more fights longer the mimic - a mimic like me is melee and so ends up in melee range most of the time, taking more hits, gets more scarlet rot, etc. Some of the more tankier summons I find don't effectively aggro the boss much because they attack slower.

Mimic tear is iffy. It's more durable than I am, but it's AI is not very good. If you're a sorcerer then it will use random spells (and Comet Azure aimed wrong). Melee seems more consistent on the mimic. It can coordinate with you on stuff - ie, blood buildup is good if you've got katanas or other bleed weapons.

When I have to stand back out of the combat and get some heals or FP back, or watch for an opening, I see the mimic taking a ton of damage, while Tiche is doing all right. But it can be situational, sometimes the mimic is better if it can do area damage and there are multiple bosses.

I went to so much effort and tries to get Tiche that I use her a lot. Mimic tear was mostly a freebie it was too easy (even without gimping yourself for the fight).

Depends on what you're fighting. Mimic tear has the potential to be superior to anything else... but you have to use very specific builds for that to happen.

Tiche scores high on nearly all boss fights form what I've tested, she's almost always in the top 3 performers, if not number 1.

The solution to the spell problem then is only equip spells that would be good for the situation.
