Usually these DLC's are side plots, they don't have any real bearing on the main story of the game. Given that the title of Elden Ring's DLC is "Shadow of the Erdtree" though, its story might instead by an epilogue to the main game. Who knows.
The DLC areas are accessed somewhere in world. In Dark Souls 1 it was a bit convoluted whereas in Dark Souls 3 it's impossible to miss it. They also appear somewhere in the middle of the game usually.
I am assuming we will access Elden Ring's DLC somewhere in the end game
Brand new areas to explore, which are also fairly big.
New armor, spells and weapons (often pretty cool ones)
New bosses, which have a tendency of being among the best in the series, such has Artorias from DS1 or Gael from DS3.
We could also get new vendors and quests.
DS3 also added a PVP boss
It may allude to an outer god's role in this setting. What is casting light on the Erdtree, which itself is brilliantly radiant, to create its shadow?
Knowing the Moon is directly linked to Ranni, shouldn't there be a Sun deity? We do have day/night... and knowing Miyazaki, this "shadow" is probably a manifestation of some kind serving as a climactic battle.
Everything is kinda possible
It won't be as big, hopefully it might be a third of the size of the world map.
I hope this trend continues in this game as well.
- Fume Knight
- Sir Alonne
- Burnt Ivory King
Yeah, I'd say DS2 fits as well.
