how does this game compare to code-vein? should I buy it?
code vein is the only souls-like game I have ever played.
and it is suppossed to be an easier version of the dark souls series.

I ended up abandoning during the battle with the second boss.

the reason I abandoned it, wasn't because the boss was hard, it was due to the fact that I looked up online for advice and I found that we are not suppossed to overlevel ourselves (luckily I hadn't done that) because the game has some kind of secret level cap and there will be some consequences.(I don't remember them).

also I got really tired of the game throwing a crapload of information to my face.
I don't really like when a game has waaaaaaay too many mechanics, and some of them are hidden.

is elden ring any better?
I know that it takes near perfect scores from all over the internet but in the end of the day it is still a souls-like, and this genre is not known to be "for everyone".

also note that I don't have any friends so I plan on only playing it on single player.

edit:
based from the answers I realize that the text I wrote wasn't as straightforward as it should be.
what I am essentially asking is :
how much text does elden ring give me about my character's stats?
does it give me a "just right" ammount of text? walls and walls of text? or barely anything and I have to search everything on the wikia?
does it have any hidden stats or hidden level caps or other hidden mechanics that I should know about?

I hope that I will get more straightforward answers now.

edit 2:
I just saw a video on the internet about this game and saw for a brief moment the character's stats and came to the realization that this game is NOT for me.
it has way too many mechanics and I don't like memorizing a crapload of information.

Code vein is a bit simplified anime souls.
I will never forgive it for aunerism-inducing not-anor-londo level (the one leading to the wolf boss).

Elden ring is simply amazing and better in every aspect mechanically if high risk combat of souls is your thing.

I play it single player and absolutely love it. Its huge so take your time and dont be afraid to die. One of the parts I really like about this game is its minimal HUD not blocking the view.

Well, Elden Ring is basically that, but instead of "too many mechanics", it's "too many places to venture into" and "too much loot to collect". Hell, there's a freshly baked thread a few blocks down that contains exactly such a complaint - "Where da hell do I go?! What da hell do I do?!"

Long story short, if you're into exploring a relatively large world map, then I'm positive you should try it out.

Skill issue. Kidding. No but seriously, Cathedral is great, probably one of my favorite locations.

Don't bother with Code Vein. It's a Dark Souls parody.

what about your character's statistics?

you had to worry about a lots of different kinds of damage, the weight of the weapon, and a bunch of other things in code vein.

is code vein simpler?

If you liked Code Vein you will like Elden Ring as well. There's a lot less character interactions and roleplay (you don't have a NPC party member tagging along at all times... but considering how they never shut up in CV you might consider that a plus) but there's a lot more bosses, areas, and weapons to check out (in CV the five weapon types mostly shared movesets, ER has hundreds of weapons, many with unique movesets, and you can attach different spells and weapon skills to any weapon for even more variety)

A word of caution though: since you can go wherever you want at any time in ER, it's easy to wander into boss fights you're not ready for. You might wanna save bigger fights like the giant golden knight and the dragon for later and start off just raiding military camps and graveyards until you're more comfortable with the combat system.

Code vein is definitely not easier than souls games. No shields, more difficult i-frame windows, faster enemies, and group AI doesn't exist, meaning you will be attacked by 5 or 6 enemies all at once with their attacks cutting through each other.

Elden Ring by comparison has so many routes and tools available to the player that it is only difficult if you make it difficult. Many different weapons, shields, spells, spirit ashes, ranged weapons, alternate routes, skipping stuff you don't like, throwing weapons, etc.

elden ring has nothing like that dreaded cathedral from code vein. I would really like code vein if it wasnt for that stupid maze.

ER received a bunch of patches, so even without using any difficulty sliders its now easier than code vein.

ER is a lot bigger, but a lot of it is empty space.

id say buy it, but there are other soulslikes that i rate higher than ER, like DS2, nioh 1, nioh 2, bloodborne, heck even DS3 (after ER got patched)

please don't respond to other people's posts without reading their post.(reading the title is not enough).

I said that I abandoned code vein during the seond boss due to the fact that it had so many mechanics that it threw way too much text on my face.

Now this makes sense.

Anyways, dont buy Elden Ring OP. Stay where you are (please?) also Elden Ring "humanoids" look like real human beings, Arms and other limbs perfectly balanced and no cat-ears so yeah i extremly recomend you to not buy Elden RIng.

Bless you OP and have a good one.

I-frames, as the name suggests are invincibility frames where nothing outside of animation happens. It's basically micro cutscenes within the body of gameplay to give the illusion of interactive combat. They cannot be more invincible by definition. Ideally, they would not exist if it were not for limitations in computing power. But to resolve every frame is for future generations.

the game doesnt tell you about poise/stance, dex increasing cast speed, guard counters, counterattacks, i frames with rolls, where to level up until youve found it, hyper armor, that vigor counterintuitively increases more health when vigor is around 30 points, the 1,5x multiplier of strength when twohanding and more.

in terms of being a mess for a souls newbie its somewhat equal to code vein, where you had invest points to test everything to know wether its useable or crap. I do recommend to check the basic stuff on fextralife (like stats).
Do not search for individual items, unfortunately there are some broken items you can collect early to become far more powerful than you otherwise would be, especially a certain staff.

thanks.
I am NOT going to buy it since it is unecessarily complicated.
